Summary

The IT Business Intelligence Analyst III/Senior partners with business and APS managers to understand and prioritize data and information requirements.  Focuses on design and support of business intelligence (“BI”) applications and architecture.  Solves technical problems and optimizes performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index

 

Minimum Requirements

Level III

  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology or related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. 
  • Requires in-depth level of technical knowledge within a job area and working knowledge of other technical areas

Level Senior

  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology or related field and 10 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires mastery level knowledge of technical area typically obtained through advanced education and experience

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business intelligence database structures, algorithms, best practices and auditing mechanisms.
  • Business intelligence products such as Azure Synapse, Power BI Dashboards, Power BI, Informatica, report builder; data warehouse objects, dimensions, hierarchies, fact tables, and aggregates; database and statistical programming languages (TSQL, PLSQL)
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture and tools like Azure Synapse, Azure Data factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake.
  • Data warehousing and performance concepts; common and complex business intelligence tools; change control and business intelligence agility methodologies; performance tuning practices; the development of complex SQL inquiries

 

Major Accountabilities

1) Manages large highly complex projects and systems relating to information design and business intelligence
2) Proactively evaluates, identifies, and resolves information design and business intelligence issues which have company-wide short-term and long-term impacts
3) Provides input to business requirements for the design of solutions
4) Translates business intelligence requirements and needs into technical solutions
5) Oversees the implementation (i.e., testing, issues resolution) of new systems or modifications
6) Identifies and provides input to new technology opportunities with impact on the enterprise-wide BI systems
7) Advises executives on how BI contributes to improving business management and optimization
8) Approves selection of tools, frameworks and mechanisms for BI
9) Aligns BI technologies with strategic initiatives
10) Provides ongoing technical direction and leadership including recommending standards, policies, and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems
11) Serves as a recognized expert in information design and business intelligence within and outside the organization
12) Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the company in information design and business intelligence
13) May lead teams in complex technical projects in information design and business intelligence

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from: 

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

 

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
