Job Description
POSITION: JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICERS’ TRAINING COPRTS (JROTC) SENIOR ARMY INSTRUCTOR
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 Months
SALARY: Cost-share agreement between the U.S. Army JROTC Program and Morehouse Parish School District, plus Morehouse Parish Sales Tax and additional duty pay. Minimum Instructor Pay determination per JROTC Standardized Instructor Pay Scale (JSIPIS) effective July 1, 2024.

JOB PURPOSE: To instruct and assist students with learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by providing approved and aligned instruction and/or support services as prescribed in their Individual Education Plan (IEP) in the resource and general ed. setting while working collaboratively with teachers, service providers, caretakers, and other community partners for the design and implementation of educational programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a United States Army Officer who separated/retired within the past 5 years with a minimum of 10 years cumulative honorable service in the grades of W1 through W5 or O-3 through O-6. Or, can be actively serving as an ARNG or Reserve Officer with the same time in grade requirements as stated above. The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the United States Army Cadet Command, Louisiana State Department of Education, and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education when the applicant begins to hold the position.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Prepares, plans and teaches the curriculum to all enrolled students {JROTC LET IIs, IIIs,
and IVs (sophomores, juniors, seniors)}
- Performs additional duties as directed by the Principal…(duties all other teachers could/would also
perform)
- Completes all bus requests one month in advance of projected offsite educational opportunities
* Conducts fundraising activitie* Plans, resources, and executes field trips
ADDITIONAL DUTIES SPECIFIC TO JROTC
1.Plans and executes all JROTC specific fundraiser activities
2.Oversees the JROTC Program at the school level IAW program and school rules and regulations as point of contact on all actions from U.S. Army Cadet Command
3. Serves as the Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 expert for the program
4. Serves as the mentor/leader for the Army Instructor (AI)
5. Shares teaching responsibilities with the AI when needed
6. Advises the Principal on all matters pertaining to JROTC
7. Serves as a liaison for JROTC community action projects
8. Prepares and submits to Cadet Command an annual training schedule (ensuring mandatory daily training/instruction requirements from Cadet Command are met)
9. Directly responsible for the program’s JROTC Unit Management Reporting System
10.racks Enrollment (School and Program)… creates and submits opening / closing reports each year.
11.Prepares and submits the Annual Unit Report
12.Prepares and submits the Annual Intention of Graduates Report
13. Prepares and submits the Annual Partnership / Service Learning / Community Service Report
14. Assembles a battalion-level command and staff
15. Trains the cadet battalion-level command and staff, and cadet company-level leadership
16. Ensures the battalion-level command and staff input awards, promotions, and events in JUMS
17. Schedules school ASVABs, organizes testing, tracks scores
18. Directs and oversees the staff as they schedule and plan offsite educational opportunities
19. Briefs the school board when needed
20. Coordinates with the district superintendent on district funding allocations
21. Plans and coordinates with the state Directors of Army Instruction on all JROTC matters
22. Stays in compliance (training) on all Government Purchase Card actions….and certifies account monthly
23. Plans, coordinates, and participates in all parades
24. Submits route and permitting application for the homecoming parades
25. Serves as an assistant to the AI on all competition drill teams
26. Assists the AI with inventorying and accounting for all Army property to include uniforms, computers, and weapons
27. Approves and submits all supply requests to Cadet Command
28. Manages the Unit Budget
29. Manages the Army Allocated Budget for Uniforms
30. Manages the Army Allocated Budget for Office Supplies
31. Serves as the Primary Mentor for the JROTC Academic Team
32. Serves as the primary Point of Contact with College Options Foundation for the JROTC Leadership and Academic Board participation and testing
33. Along with the cadet staff, oversees and executes the Jr. High JROTC recruitment program
34. Mentors the cadet staff during the planning and preparation for the Annual Military Ball
35. Ensures the AI and SAI have all personnel records up to date at all times
36. Plans, coordinates and attends all drill meets
37. Certifies and oversees the Management Control Program
38. Prepares the Program for our Accreditation Inspection (every 3 years)
39. Overall responsible for what the program does and what the program fails to do
