About the role: 

Working within our Digital Applications Business Unit as a Junior Data Analyst this position will suit someone who can provide data analysis expertise in our client projects. This is an entry-level opportunity.

You will join a highly experienced team in our Data & AI practice who are supporting Sword’s clients on their journey to become data driven organisations.

As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll learn to collect, process, and analyse data that helps drive business decisions. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in data analysis and grow your skills in a supportive environment.

You will be involved with:

  • Support Data Collection and Organisation:
  • Assisting in gathering data from various internal and external sources
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements
  • Help to identify and access relevant data sources for specific business questions
  • Participate in cross-departmental meetings to better understand business challenges

 

  • Data Preparation and Cleaning:
  • Perform initial data cleaning and preparation tasks
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across datasets

 

  • Reporting and Visualization:
  • Create reports and visualisations using a suite of data tools
  • Tailoring visual outputs to meet stakeholder needs and preferences
  • Assist in presenting and explaining dashboards to non-technical audiences

 

  • Project Support:
  • Aiding senior team members in various stages of larger data projects
  • Help to translate business requirements into actionable data analysis tasks
  • Contributing insights and observations in team discussions about data findings

 

  • Continuous Learning and Skill Development:
  • Actively learning and applying new data analysis techniques on the job
  • Attending internal and external training sessions to improve technical and soft skills
  • Staying informed about industry trends and emerging best practices in data analysis

Requirements

Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role: 

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Eagerness to learn new data analysis tools and techniques
  • Good communication skills to explain data concepts to non-technical team members
  • Ability to work well in a team and take direction from senior analysts
  • Basic understanding of SQL and Python preferable
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Experience with data-related coursework or personal projects
