It’s reporting and data analyses– but not only that! Do you want a lot of variety and do you want to contribute to relevant and interesting topics and emerging risks risks , such as Fraud, Cyber, GenAI, Sustainability? Would you like get to know all banking products and processes from payments to (consumer) lending, from investments to support functions like Finance and HR; then come and support our Tribe and become the compass and radar on non-financial risks for ING NL.

The key role of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) is to advice, challenge and monitor ING NL’s adherence to NFR policies and procedures and preventing (managing?)  Operational and IT risks. NFR management defined its ambition to be the strategic business partner enabling ING NL’s Horizon ’28 strategy and empowering ING NL to be compliant by desire and design. To achieve this NFR wants to be amongst others an impactful, data-driven, risk-based, forward looking and pro-active risk management organisation. To make this shift, NFR is expanding its team with Data Analysts and investing in the data capabilities of its NFR specialist/experts.

As a Data Analyst within NFR you will play a key  role in executing NFR’s new strategy  by supporting the data driven, risk-based way of work enabling an effective and efficient NFR organisation.

You support the NFR specialists/expert in challenging and advising the management of ING NL on NFR risks with data analyses and with your data-driven mindset. Together with your team, you will be responsible for the delivery of the NFR Dashboard, reports, deep dives, and (ad hoc) analyses.  

The Team

You will be part of the Integrated NFR team, which is part of the Tribe NFR ING NL. The team consist of 6 members consisting of both data analysts and NFR specialists. Team members operate as independent consultants in cooperation with the NFR specialists/expert from Operational Risk Management and IT Risk. All Risk management activities will be performed in close alignment with risk specialists/experts from the Group Risk teams, ODCR and the Business Tribes.  You will work together with squads from the Tribe Data Management for structuring the data in data lake solutions. You will report to the Expert Lead of Integrated NFR ING NL.

Roles and responsibilities 

With support of your data analyses, reporting, and advice you will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of NFR. This consists a.o. of:

  • Reporting: Support in building and maintaining dashboards on NFR, i.e. supporting to deliver the monthly and quarterly NFR Dashboard

  • Data gathering and exploration:

    • Collect business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements to create insights and to be used for data analyses in steering on the NFR risks within ING NL.

    • Conduct research using primary data sources (where possible from the data lake) and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.

  • Data analyses

    • Support on deep dives/investigations with data analyses

    • Support pro-active data analyses to provide insights in the key NFR risks

    • Answer ad hoc questions with data

    • Create risk based samples to support deep dives/investigations or second line monitoring activities

  • Data management: Supporting the maintenance of the data

  • Data compliancy: Comply with the procedures and regulations regarding data (i.e privacy, security, retention)

  • Support colleagues on any other data issue

  • Have the skills to function independently, effectively and in good collaboration

Your technical skills and track record 

  • An university Bachelor/Master degree in a quantitative direction and/or have proven yourself in this working field

  • More than 2 years of working experience

  • Experience with dashboard tooling like Cognos or PowerBI

  • Experience  with SQL, Excel

  • Experience with performing statistical data analyses using SAS is a plus

  • Basic knowledge of AI and GenAI techniques

  • Fluent Dutch and English language skills

  • Affinity with banking and (Non-Financial) risk management is preferred
