Junior-Level Data Scientist

Mission

Kingfisher is seeking a Junior-Level Data Scientist for a confidential Department of Defense client. Client mission includes:

  • Leading the Department’s strategy and policy on data, analytics, and AI adoption, as well as governing and overseeing efforts across the Department.
  • Enabling the development of digital and AI-enabled solutions across the Department, while also selectively scaling proven solutions for enterprise and joint use cases.
  • Providing a sophisticated cadre of technical experts that serve as a de facto data and digital response force able to address urgent crises and emerging challenges with state-of-the-art digital solutions

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, develop, test, and support informatics and data science solutions for various technical use cases.
  • Apply analytical methodologies to diagnose data-related challenges, implement solutions, and evaluate performance.
  • Document and present requirements, design alternatives, and findings to team members and clients.
  • Develop strategic, baseline data modeling processes and accurately determine cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Experience with integrated development environments, data integration, data visualization, data mining, and analysis tools.
  • Maintain and guide the development of common libraries and tools used by multiple teams.
  • Aid in formulating a strategy for rapid prototyping.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Experience in machine learning fields such as natural language processing, computer vision, and statistical learning theory.
  • Experience in a machine learning engineer or data scientist role, with a focus on building machine learning models.
  • Proficiency in writing code with Python, R, Scala, Java, or C++ with an emphasis on documentation for reproducibility.
  • Experience handling terabyte-sized datasets, discovering hidden patterns, using data visualization tools, writing SQL, and working with GPUs to develop models.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences and to deliver data-driven presentations.

Years of Experience: 1+ years

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years of experience, or a Master’s Degree plus 1-3 years of experience.

Minimum Clearance Requirement: TS must be able to achieve a TS/SCI clearance with scope.

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week on-site) Falls Church, Pentagon, Alexandria, or Arlington
