The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work as part of a team of air regulatory and science professionals to support our clients in achieving compliance with state and federal air regulations through every phase of a project; from feasibility, to design, to construction, to operations.

The Team

Our Environmental team is a multidisciplinary team of ecologists, engineers, scientists, project managers, and attorneys working together to identify optimum environmental solutions for our clients. We have provided environmental consulting services in support of projects for over 40 years including a diverse and growing mix of infrastructure projects such as power generation (conventional and renewable) and transmission, oil and gas facilities and pipelines, water and wastewater treatment facilities, data centers, and food and beverage industries. As a full-service environmental consulting practice, services include impact assessment and planning, regulatory compliance and permitting, wetland and floodplain analysis, waterbody and water quality assessment, air quality permitting and management, environmental remediation, site due diligence, environmental noise assessment, pollution prevention planning, and climate action solutions.
Functions in a lead consultant role or as a lead technical specialist. Responsible for applying advanced techniques and analyses for conventional assignments. Expands knowledge and skill set in practice area and begins to expand knowledge in other practice areas. Works under limited supervision and can lead a small effort or assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support projects associated with facility development, construction, and operation.
- Determine regulatory applicability, prepare air construction and operating permit applications.
- Review proposed modifications and air pollution control technologies associated with New Source Review (NSR) including both Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and Nonattainment NSR Air Construction Permits and prepare air emission estimations.
- Domestic and international consulting, permitting, licensing, and environmental quality review processes for power generation projects, industrial projects, water and wastewater treatment facilities, data centers, and oil and gas projects.
- Identify and interpret the statutes and regulations affecting the siting, design, construction, and operation of projects, coordinate with regulatory agencies and environmental consultants, and prepare site certification applications, permit applications, and environmental reports.
- Lead and perform air dispersion modeling analyses to support project feasibility and/or construction permitting using AERMOD and related tools.
Management Responsibilities
Acts in capacity of a “lead person.” Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental engineering, or environmental sciences strongly preferred. May also consider other degrees, specialized training, or experience that uniquely qualifies the individual to perform the job responsibilities.
- Proven success providing strategic air regulatory and permitting consulting for power generation clients, oil and gas clients, water and wastewater treatment clients, municipalities, data centers, and/or industrial clients.
- 5+ years of solutions-oriented environmental and/or sustainability consulting. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable to job function.
- Demonstrated experience with regulatory-approved air emissions modeling software (AERMOD).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines.
- Strong technical writing abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum total of 5 years of related work experience is typically necessary to move into this level. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable to job function. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Industry recognized credentials preferred as may be available and potentially necessary for job function.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work Environment: Typical office/home office environment. Physical Demands: Sitting, talking, grasping, hearing, keyboard input, driving, seeing, writing, reaching, stooping, crouching, walking, standing for extended periods of time. Domestic travel required. Infrequent international travel can be necessary.
