POSITION
Lead AIT Engineer
Xplore is hiring a Lead Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) Engineer to lead rapid and responsible execution of spacecraft development, assembly, and test. The ideal candidate will have direct experience defining and executing assembly and test plans with the depth to judge risk and tailor efforts to aggressive project goals.
This role reports to the Director of Spacecraft Engineering. It is expected that this role will have a direct report, a senior/mid-level technician. More team members will be added on an as-needed basis.
The candidate should exhibit strong working experience in spacecraft subassembly and full assembly integration, including engineering and flight hardware, with particular emphasis on electrical systems. The AI&T engineer will work collaboratively with the design team, project management, and systems engineering. As part of the multi-disciplined spacecraft build team you will be a crucial part of bringing the vehicle to life.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to work with minimal supervision while being responsive and flexible within the framework of an agile space start-up.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support assembly and testing on EM FlatSat and FM Hardware
- Significant contributor to spacecraft assembly planning and execution.
- Define and execute test plans that verify and validate mission and vehicle requirements.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- All persons hired must be a current U.S. citizen or current lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or similar field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated familiarity implementing and maintaining build and test documentation, contributing directly to the verification of mission and vehicle requirements.
- Demonstrated experience setting up and using electrical test equipment, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, device emulators, and engineering model hardware.
- Working knowledge of aerospace soldering and wire harness building/inspection practices per NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
- Demonstrated track record of leading spacecraft programs through environmental testing.
Desired SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Past or current certification in applicable aerospace soldering and wire harness building/inspection practices and standards.
- Having a track record of leading integration of spacecraft with launch vehicle hardware and associated activities.
The top 4-6 measurable priorities to be accomplished in the first 6 months
The Lead AIT Engineer will have the following priorities:
- Lead the integration team in configuring the facility and hardware for FlatSat test and flight spacecraft integration and test operations.
- Work with relevant team members to develop company manufacturing practices, including preparation and execution of work instructions, kitting hardware, and preparing consumables for operations.
- Work with relevant team members to develop and manage the spacecraft FlatSat.
- Work with relevant team members to develop, own, and track the subassembly and full vehicle-level integration and test plans.
COMPENSATION
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $110,000 – $140,000 per year based upon level of experience. Xplore has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States when the role is remote. This allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
