CompanyFederal Reserve Bank of BostonThe Data & Analytics department at Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (FRBB) delivers critical insights and analytics solutions across Bank business units. The mission of the Data & Analytics department is to enable a data driven focus to accelerate time to insights and action across FRBB by providing targeted analytical expertise support, reliability, and consistency in data practices. We are looking for a Lead Data Analyst to join our team of data specialists facilitating the mission of the department and FRBB. The team currently supports various business lines and executive leadership in providing self-service analytics, responding to adhoc requests, providing capable and accurate analytics and statistical support, as well as serving a key role in data management and access. The role will involve working with stakeholders to define business requirements and understanding data needs, developing data pipelines to automate the flow of information, developing visualizations to support decision making, and building statistical models to perform descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analyses. An important responsibility in this role will be to effectively communicate compelling analytics to help business lines better understand and leverage their data, enabling decision making supported by data. This role will work cross functionally and requires the ability to operate with substantial latitude for action; it will be a good fit for someone who is a self-motivated team player.This role will be hybrid with a first district residence requirement, with regular on-site presence required.Principal Accountabilities Independently deliver and manage direction for end-to-end solutions leveraging data to support business objectives of Data & Analytics stakeholders across FRBBMeet with senior leadership across FRBB business lines to identify project work, define requirements, iterate on solutions, right-size solutions by evaluating costs and benefits, and communicate results that are succinct and easy-to-understandGather data and translate business requirements to provide appropriate analytical solution to solve business problems, ranging from basic reporting to advanced analyses such as predictive/prescriptive analytics, ML, NLP, and other advanced statistical techniquesDeliver dashboards, graphs, visualizations, and supporting reports that enable teams to measure success and support decision-makingIntroduce external best practices and innovative solutions and identify areas for improvement beyond the initial request from stakeholdersLead and participate in all project planning processes by developing work plans, timelines and managing direct and matrixed staff to ensure that project timeframes are metActively collaborate with other functional groups outside of the Data & Analytics teamInfluence others and motivate positive change in data literacy and data management, within the Data & Analytics department and across FRBBProvide oversight, guidance, and knowledge-sharing with members of the Data & Analytics department; including, but not limited to, coding and statistical expertise, code and product review, and contributing as a senior leader on the team to establish and adhere to industry best practicesLead Bankwide and/or System IT workstreamsHighly effective written and verbal communication skillsManage 0-3 individual contributorsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge and ExperienceTypically requires 7+ years experience and a Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields: mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science/analytics, or similar quantitative fields (master’s degree preferred)6+ years of applied experience with industry standard development tools such as Python, R; experience with visualization techniques and tools such as Tableau, Power BI, RShiny, Python Dash; experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, git, etc.).Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases1+ years of experience with cloud data services such as AWS, Azure (preferred)Advanced experience data modeling and understanding data structures, benefits, and limitationsAdvanced experience with statistical analysis and reportingExperience leading and influencing a complex, cross-function project teamExcellent problem solving skills and experience working independently with minimal oversight.Passionate about telling data stories through visualization and dashboards. Committed to making analysis succinct and digestible.
