Lead Data Engineer
Worcester based with a balance of home and office working
£70,967 – £74,702 per year
35 hours per week – Monday to Friday
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our team based in Worcester. This job sits within Technology which is responsible for delivering technology capability within Sanctuary Group to ensure employees have access to the systems they need to perform their duties.
The role of Lead Data Engineer will include:
- Engaging and collaborating with business stakeholders across all levels of the organisation to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Sanctuary Group’s analytical data
- Producing and maintaining metadata (including relationships, calculation logic etc.) and documentation to accompany data models using data modelling tools
- Managing delivery of data analysis projects, gathering business requirements from service users, converting them into functional specifications and liaising with third party contractors to agree the scope, benefits and delivery of proposed solutions across multiple systems
- Integrate SAP Datasphere with SAP BW and BW bridge development to support various data and analytics initiatives
- Utilise best practice architecture and design principles to create analytical data models
- Reviewing and updating support & operations documentation where required
- Participating in production support role during key activity periods when required month-end, quarter-end, year-end etc
- Ensuring the consistency of master data between related systems
- Reviewing & improving existing master data interfaces to eliminate master data issues in SAP ECC, BW, BPC and any downstream systems
Skills and experiences:
- Degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification
- Diploma in Business Analysis or knowledge and ability at an equivalent level
- SAP Analytics tools (e.g. SAP Application Associate – SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC)) certified or equivalent experience
- Recent experience of undertaking a similar role
- Substantial experience of analysing, diagnosing and resolving data integration issues
- Extensive knowledge of SAP BW, ECC, S/4 and SAC and its data structures
- Expertise in S/4HANA Analytics, including CDS Views Development, SAP HANA Cloud, or HANA 2.0, and SAP BW/4HANA.
- Design and develop analytical models using Graphical/SQL View.
- Ability to design and implement complex dataflows.
- Experience working on mixed modeling with BW and HANA native modeling.
- Experience in the integration of SAP and non-SAP data sources (Federated, Replication).
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices

- Role salary is £53,134 with an additional policy allowance of £17,832 per annum (rising to £55,931 with an additional policy allowance of £18,770 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
