Job Description
Job Summary:
The Lead Data Governance works who will lead the enterprise stewardship community in adopting data governance and management standard processes. This is a crucial role and will be on the forefront of enabling our data citizens to use and handle our data assets.
This position will assure intended data governance, controls and security to the associates who are responsible to gather and wrangle data to deliver data-driven insights, trends, and anomalies for reporting and analyzing results for decision making by utilizing advanced quality tools and methodology.
With the goal to be best-in-class position and following data governance best practices, the Lead Data Governance will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, data scientist and business stakeholders, to understand data governance requirements and ensure product/service goals and objectives are delivered while driving continuous improvement to the data maturity of enterprise. Additionally, this individual must be able to work effectively within a matrixed organization and demonstrate self-leadership skills.
Job Role
• Consult & support business and technology customers in understanding data governance and data management driving enterprise data maturity, and developing data strategies. Act as an overall SME in data management.
• Engage domain data leaders and practitioners in identifying data problems and use-cases that can fuel operational reporting, analytics and/or overall data-driven decisioning. Support the domain data leaders in implementing a data governance framework that aligns to enterprise strategy, policy and regulatory requirements and follows data management standard processes.
• Understand/document business requirements in the BI context and develop a methodology to implement policies, guidelines, tools, metrics, and standards for managing metadata.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to identify and define data domains, develop/ implement a data catalogue to ensure consistent, accurate, and complete data documentation.
• Steer the Data Governance Stewardship Group meetings for aligning business functions on data governance initiatives. Develop playbooks and SOPS for data stewards to implement data governance and data management using enterprise tools.
• Conduct periodic analysis and research to identify key metrics, benchmarks, governance template that help enhancing the data governance and opportunities for improvement.
• Be proactive and on the lookout for opportunity that helps enforce required governance, controls and security across the organization.
• Develop data sharing ecosystem to ensure that data is available only to those who need it while maintaining data security.
• Develop and implement control/KPI that assures desired data quality and availability.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the data governance framework in cloud through respective Data Governance tools and recommend improvements as necessary.
Strongly Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration or related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred with necessary certifications.
• 6-10 years of validated experience in large data transformations focusing on data governance and data privacy
• Extensive knowledge of data management and data governance principles, implementations and latest industry trends.
• Demonstrable ability to handle multiple business customers, including actively engaging and aligning with enterprise senior leadership to drive data governance initiatives and strategies in line with the overall interpersonal goals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to empower and guide multi-functional teams effectively.
• Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a dedication to delivering high-quality products.
• Business oriented, experience in supporting teams in meeting their goals, good skills and knowledge of facilitation.
