Lead Data Scientist, Product – Risk Operations

Job Summary

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be part of the Product Risk Operations team that owns the development of Urbint’s AI-powered technology that helps our clients make communities safer and more resilient. Our technology helps our customers in reducing carbon emissions, reducing infrastructure risk and avoiding fatalities, a fact that we pride ourselves in.

As a part of the Risk Operations team, you will be working on a wide range of activities related to end-to-end Machine Learning (ML) deployments, research and development of ML product features to support internal and external stakeholders. This is a great role for someone who enjoys variety and is also looking to expand their skill set in a structured fashion.

What You’ll Do

●  Serve as a thought leader on the application of AI within the utilities industry, guiding the direction for how AI can be used in Urbint’s products to enable our clients desired outcomes.

●  Provide technical guidance for the data science team to formulate the research problem, design experiments and narrow down the solution space.

●  Work closely with cross-functional teams to uncover high-impact opportunities, architecting and leading the development of experiments and deploying repeatable and scalable machine learning solutions that drive business impact.

●  Take charge of the design and execution of rigorous experiments and hypothesis testing for the advancement of machine learning features.

●  Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of machine learning models to support existing as well as new customers.

●  Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear visual presentations.

●  Manage the process for monitoring and analyzing performance of machine learning models.

●  Act as the mentor for junior data scientists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

● Champion the adoption of cutting-edge data science, machine learning, and AI technologies and methodologies, ensuring Urbint remains at the forefront of the industry.

Who You Are

●  Over 6-8 years of experience in the end-to-end process for designing, building and deploying machine learning models, of which 2+ year(s) including leading projects or teams

●  Advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or another relevant quantitative field

●  Exceptional problem solving skills with a strategic focus on product innovation and development.

●  Proficient in programming languages such as R or Python with extensive experience using libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, tensor flow .

●  Knowledge of SQL and relational databases for data extraction and manipulation.

●  Comprehensive experience using a variety of Machine Learning techniques for Predictive Modeling, Classification, Natural Language Processing (including Large Language Models), Content Recommendation Systems, Time Series Techniques

●  Experience with Machine Learning Operations, such as developing self-service tools for data scientists that support feature engineering pipeline, model testing, and deployment, developing distributed training infrastructure, and tools for monitoring models in production.

●  Extensive experience with building AI solutions using cloud-based framework such as GCP Vertex AI, AWS, or Azure is a plus

●  Commitment to continuous learning and being up-to-date with the latest developments in Machine Learning

●  Willingness to be hands on with developing AI and machine learning solutions

●  Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

●  High degree of accountability

●  Prior experience in the Utility, Infrastructure or Energy related field experience is highly desirable
