The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to join our Merchant Data Platform, Data Science and Modeling team to help build next generation AI powered merchant ecosystem.
In this role, you will help build data science solutions to improve merchant data, discover insights, ensure data quality and power multi-functional peers to ignite merchant data potential. You will also be guiding the direction of this team and help grow junior talents.
The Work Itself:
Our team needs a Lead Machine Engineer with strong Data and Machine Learning System development and operations experience, who will contribute to both strategic and tactic planning and execution to continuously advance the Merchant Data Platform’s vision and mission. In this position, you are first a hard-working and versatile engineering leader that can work in a multi-layered environment as a member of Agile scrum teams.
You will be an integral part of the leadership team, setting up technical roadmap, introducing the latest machine learning and system technology to the team, working with development managers and teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, and working with different products and data science teams to streamline the feature request and model onboarding.

Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
- Drive development effort End-to-End for timely delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and align with all applicable standards. Responsibilities span all phases of solution development.
- Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved.
- Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a detailed and timely manner.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
- Relevant working experiences in modeling techniques such as logistic regression, Naive Bayes, SVM, decision trees, or neural networks.
- Skilled in SQL, Python and basic libraries for machine learning such as scikit-learn and Pandas, as well as Jupyter Notebook.
- Experience with Big Data and analytics in general leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Query Engines.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning.
- Experience in MLOps and production machine learning systems at large scale.
- Experience in Automation framework such as Airflow or Metaflow.
- Experience in mentoring junior talents and technical leadership.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 179,200.00 to 259,850.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
