The Lead Power BI Developer is responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of Microsoft Power BI solutions. This role involves collaborating with business units to gather requirements, transforming data into actionable insights, and supporting a team of technical Power BI developers.

  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to meet the business requirements.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting and data analysis requirements and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.
  • Establish best practices, coding standards and data governance for Power BI development.
  • Design and develop data models and data transformations in Power BI to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and work with the data team to resolve them.
  • Ensure the scalability and performance of Power BI solutions.
  • Conduct user training sessions and provide support to end-users on the effective use of Power BI tools and features.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Power BI features and updates and recommend innovative solutions to improve data visualization and reporting capabilities.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, database administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure data availability and quality for Power BI solutions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI solutions to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Document technical specifications, data mappings, and solution designs for Power BI projects.
  • Partner with data engineers to develop and maintain data definitions, data lineage and data cataloging using best in-class solutions.
  • Functions as a task leader on large projects and/or project leader on small projects; coordinates resources, milestone schedules and related communication; responsible for delivery of an assigned scope of work
  • Uses standard team/department methods and processes to complete work; assists in developing methods and processes when required
  • Participates in and supports disaster recovery initiatives and change management standards and procedures; assists in developing standards and procedures when required
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by Manager
  • Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5-10 years of proven work experience with Power BI development
  • Expert understanding of PowerBI platform including workspaces, deployment pipelines, dataset creation and maintenance; data hub exploration, PowerBI desktop and report builder
  • Proven experience in developing complex Power BI solutions is required
  • Proven experience in the use of Visual Studio or Tabular Editor to support Enterprise-Wide model development
  • Strong understanding of DAX Studio and Power Query to support data analysis and similar functions
  • Proven experience with DevOps functionality: GIT, Azure DevOps, or similar solutions
  • Expert understanding of Microsoft Excel and integration points with Power BI
  • Strong understanding of MS Purview or similar solutions for data classification, definitions, and cataloging
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools a plus
  • Leadership experience and the ability to line manage and mentor a team of technical developers
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Understanding of SAP AFS Functional Areas: Sales and Distribution, Order to Cash, Material Management, Procure to Pay considered a plus

Working Conditions

100% Remote with option for Hybrid if you prefer. Remote candidates must be able to work on East Coast Time Zone.

    Salary Minimum

    $96,000.00

    Salary Maximum

    $126,000.00
