The Strategy, Digital and Innovation (SDI) team forges the strategic direction of Wells Fargo, provides and manages our digital foundation and common capabilities, and transforms our business models to meet evolving customer needs and grow the company. We research, ideate and design new concepts to the enterprise through a human-centered approach. Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Product Designer as part of Strategy, Digital and Innovation. In this role, we’re looking for T-shaped competencies where the depth of design leadership is complimented by a broad toolkit that shines as you inspire and enable great design, and thrive within a new, growing multidisciplinary team of collaborators. The Product Designer, in partnership with a diverse team of leaders for the Innovation Enablement Team, care for the following:
- Design Sprints, where we impart new ways of working to various internal teams while designing new business visions, solutions, roadmaps, test prototypes, and create compelling communication of the work.
- Innovation Incubation, where we identify and enable deep understanding of opportunity areas. We develop confidence on the desirability, viability and feasibility of new offerings through iterative prototyping, partnership with technology groups, and strategical alignment with business priorities, ensuring a path for a successful market launch.
In this role, you will:
- Proactively collaborate with cross functional leadership teams to understand business objectives and customer needs and translate them into compelling design solutions
- Create design deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, prototypes, user interfaces and visual designs – often taking broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something engaging and provoking
- Develop and maintain design best practices and ensure quality excellence on deliverables
- Work collectively with a design team to ideate and execute immersive design experiences including and not limited to posters, design prototypes, POC prototypes, communication design, to presentations, and anything in between
- Assess and evangelize the need for the appropriate fidelity of design required
- In partnership with team leadership, scope and conduct user research to validate design decisions
- Partner with Design Strategists and Researchers to ensure designs care for the appropriate human experience
- Partner with Product Managers to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business goals
- Provide implementation guidance to delivery teams to ensure designs launch at the highest quality
Success in this role requires stretching the limits of what is currently being done, self-starting, executing in a fast-paced environment, confidence in approaching work from the lens of experimentation, strong systems thinking and analytics thinking skills and knowing how to be scrappy and loose when it is necessary, communicating complex topics in a simple yet compelling manner.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Online and Digital Product Design, Information Sciences, Graphic, and Visual Arts experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in creative design agencies and/or financial start ups
- Strong leadership skills and experiences collaborating with other designers
- Deep expertise in human-centered design principles and practices including design thinking, user research and usability testing
- Excellence in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, and experience in leveraging AI tools
- Strong business acumen and ability to align design decisions with business objectives
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present design concepts to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Comfort and skill in working and leading others to work at an accelerated pace
- Experience working in agile methodologies.

Job Expectations:
- This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
- This role will not be a telecommuting position and will follow a hybrid office model. Candidates must be willing to work out of Menlo Park 3 days a week and occasionally travel to San Francisco.
Pay Range
$133,300.00 – $237,100.00
