Lead Software Engineer – Big Data Developer

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Enterprise Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems and ensure permanent closure of incidents
- Engage with development team throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes
- Identify application patterns and analytics in support of better service level objectives
- Design self-healing and resiliency patterns
- Design automated software and product upgrades, change management, and release management solutions
- Participate in the 24×7 support coverage as needed
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Strong experience in AWS or other cloud platforms. Professional certifications is a plus.
- Strong experience in Big Data development tool stack (AWS, EMR, Spark), ETL data pipeline implementation.
- Strong development experience in Java, Python or Scala.
- Proficiency in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm.
- Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills.
- Experience in Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment processes using tools such as Jenkins and spinnaker.
- Collaboration with global team including participation in daily scrum meetings, peer reviews and design sessions.
- Proficiency in service-level changes to a system and troubleshooting components.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
