Job Description

The North America Sales & Distribution Data Analytics team at Chubb is seeking a machine learning engineer with 2-3+ years of industry experience to join our fast-paced, high-energy team. 

As an MLengineer for North America Data Analytics, you will develop solutions to complex business problems which combine industry standard practices with innovation. This position offers exposure to a wide variety of analytic tools and technologies. Be ready to meet data challenges head-on as you develop and refine data processes to marry data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources which ultimately feed into the evaluation, implementation, and monitoring of predictive models.  

In this role you will:

  • Build, test and deploy Machine Learning/Deep Learning tools and pipelines, to solve internal and external business requirements
  • Take part in every step of the model creation process from ideation to deployment
  • Create and maintain automated and semi-automated data pipelines within on-prem servers as well as in cloud (Azure).
  • Play an active role in model deployment and testing.
  • Create excellent working relationships with business partners across the Chubb organization, IT and Analytics peer groups.
  • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders in written, oral and presentation formats.
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics or Engineering (advanced degree a plus).
  • Required
    • Excellent and demonstrable programming ability in Python.
    • Significant experience with writing complex SQL queries
    • Experience deploying solutions as Databricks jobs/ dockerized containers
    • Hands-on experience with big data technologies and cloud (Spark, Azure/AWS/GCP).
    • Understanding of LLM functionality and inference techniques
    • Working knowledge/familiarity with Git version control.
    • Solid understanding of databases and ETL/ELT best practices.
    • Experience with architecting and consuming APIs in a scalable (multi-threaded/batched) fashion.
    • Ability to multi-task, learn new things quickly, and have excellent problem solving & communication skills.
    • A mindset for collaboration, knowledge sharing and keeping up to date on emerging industry trends.
  • Preferred
    • Experience with at least one other programming language (JavaScript, Java, C++/C)
    • Experience with Azure suite of applications 
    • Comfortable with command line (Linux, Windows) scripting.
    • Strong expertise in authoring ETL pipelines and processing data at scale.
  • Nice to have
    • Exposure to technologies such as DBT, Apache AirFlow or Luigi.
    • Working knowledge of containers, specifically Dockerizing APIs.
    • Exposure to CI-CD pipelines.
    • Comfortable with at least one NoSQL database (MongoDB, ElasticSearch, CosmosDB, etc.).

Location:

  • We are open to the following work locations for this position: (Philadelphia, PA – Jersey City, NJ – Whitehouse Station, NJ)
  • Please note there will be limited expected travel to various work locations for in person collaboration and meetings. 

The pay range for the role is $96,300 to $163,700. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.  Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.  The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
