The Ads Traffic Strategy and User Experience team uses various levers and advertising space to adjust global and personalized distribution of ads traffic, optimize supply and demand, and achieve revenue target while meeting many regional, national and supply restrictions. By modeling active and passive user feedback signals, we improve the quality of advertising delivery and optimize traffic efficiency to protect users from unexpected and inappropriate advertising content, and improve user ads experience and retention.

Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 2025. Online Assessment
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok’s technical online assessment in HackerRank.
Responsibilities:
– Build highly scalable machine learning systems/models to improve ads ranking results.
– Explore, develop and experiment with new features to improve model accuracy.
– Understand advertisement platform objectives and take full advantage of modern machine learning to improve ad quality, relevancy, and select the best ad formats delivered to end-users.
– Develop robust core systems and algorithms, including ads format selection system, ads ranking system, model serving system, etc.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
– Currently pursuing an Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline with 2+ years research or machine learning modeling experience.
– Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2025.
– Solid programming skills, proficient in C/C++ and Python. Familiar with basic data structure and algorithms. Familiar with Linux development environment.
– Good analytical thinking capability. Essential knowledge and skills in statistics.
– Good theoretical grounding in deep learning concepts and techniques.
– Familiar with architecture and implementation of at least one mainstream machine learning programming framework (TensorFlow/Pytorch/MXNet), familiar with its architecture and implementation mechanism.
Preferred Qualifications:
– PhD candidate focused on a statistical learning related field.
– Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
– Good knowledge in one of the following fields: Factorization Machine, Uplift Modeling, Diffusion Models, Reinforcement Learning.
– Basic understanding of large recommendation system and ads serving system concepts.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description Intern (hourly)
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $45. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.
Our time off and leave plans are: Paid holidays and paid sick leave. The sick leave entitlement is based on the time you join.
