The mission of our PGC TV Algo team is to push next-generation machine learning algorithms for the TV recommendation system in our company. We also drive substantial impact on core businesses of the company. Currently, we are looking for interns to join our team to support and advance that mission.
TikTok TV team leads product and growth initiatives for TikTok TV app on all TV platforms with a data-driven and results-focused engineering and product mindset. We are seeking talented individuals who enjoy the intersection of machine learning, product, data, and engineering to help us reach the next milestone of billions of users.
In the PGC, TikTok TV algo team, you’ll have the opportunity to build and optimize TikTok TV recommendation algorithm on all TV platforms to bring joys to our users in all scenes. PGC TV algo team allows you to get a first look at state-of-the-art machine learning technologies the most innovative organizations are using and be able to contribute based on that. At Tiktok TV, we encounter a diversity of technical challenges, i.e. build specialized recommendation algorithms, high quality content pools for TV, ensure ML system stability, etc.
We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2025. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Responsibilities
– Responsible for using cutting edge ML algorithms to improve TV core metrics.
– Responsible for using algorithms to identify events and behaviors that affect product experience and efficiency, and building data models to help create a favorable ecosystem and support business operations.
– Participate in building/analyzing data for various TV markets such as US/EU to identify potential TV algo issues, building large-scale ML algorithm/feature sequence models to support business scenarios such as content understanding, multimodal representation, and solving problems related to TV products.
– Explore and research cutting-edge technologies in machine learning/sequence learning and related fields, implement these technologies in practical business scenarios, and support the production of scalable and optimised machine learning models.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master/PhD degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Be able to work onsite for at least 12 weeks
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
• Good sense of teamwork and communication skills, practical experience in ML business scenarios is preferred.
• Published papers in high-level computer science conferences (ICML, KDD, EMNLP, NIPS, AAAI, etc.) or have competition experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
• Familiar with the application of related algorithms in data mining, feed recommendation, content understanding is preferred.
• Skilled in numpy and pandas for modeling experiments, familiar with big data tools such as Hive, Spark, Hadoop preferred.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description Intern (hourly)
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $60. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.
Our time off and leave plans are: Paid holidays and paid sick leave. The sick leave entitlement is based on the time you join.
