MMGS is a global knowledge center for Marsh McLennan and houses teams, which work closely with the colleagues across various operating units and locations. The Knowledge Services function under MMGS aims to provide specialized services in the domain of Research, Consulting, Data Analytics, Data Science, Actuarial and Design.

This role at Knowledge Services aims to provide colleagues with an exposure towards key risks faced by businesses. Incumbent will also have an opportunity to contribute to cutting edge analytics platform and products. Incumbent is expected to be an expert of Data Science algorithms, Business Analytics and Data Manipulation. Expertise in Python and SQL is a must. Experience with Insurance or Banking industry is a plus.

What can you expect?

This position is for an individual contributor in Data Engineering, who will develop and implement data pipelines and other data projects using leading-edge techniques in ETL and natural language processing as applied in commercial insurance and risk management. This position consults a variety of internal stakeholders and develops approaches for new, market-leading analytics-based tools. The successful candidate will work closely with a number of key stakeholders to:

  • Develops data models, schemas and data architecture for implementing new, market-leading analytics-based tools to support clients and colleagues understand and address risk
  • Understands business problems to create an approach that starts with determining structured and unstructured data needs and availability, builds supporting data structures to Machine Learning models, and finalizes with results that unlock insight for clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrates skill in data mining, and/or data extraction techniques, using Python combined with broader awareness of the business and ongoing research, while functioning in a collaborative role with Data Engineering and Data Science teams across the wider organization
  • Stays current with ongoing research in the field and brings new approaches to the team
  • Serves as an internal expert resource and champion for data engineering within Marsh and MMC

We will count on you to

  • Experience in developing data pipelines on cloud solutions such as AWS or Azure
  • Extract and transform data from unstructured data sources using modern transformers such as BERT, RoBERT etc
  • Build Data Pipelines and Data extraction algorithms based on the business ask
  • Understand common schema designs like star schema, snowflake schema design
  • Expertise in SQL and No-SQL
  • Comfortable in using ODBC connections and other types of connections
  • Expertise in traditional data infrastructure such as MS-SQL
  • Fair knowledge of Pyspark, Hadoop, Big Data etc
  • Deploy API on the platform by understanding the technical ask
  • Use advanced analytics to augment consulting deliverables with data backed outputs

What you need to have

  • Master’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field of Data Engineering or Data Science
  • Expertise in Python, NLP, Data Extraction techniques using Python
  • Expertise in ETL knowledge, including familiarity with machine learning and NLP techniques
  • Ability to face difficult and sometimes complex problems
  • Ability to influence others within and outside of the job function regarding approach and procedures
  • Ability to develop strong internal/external client oriented solutions
  • Superior detail orientation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of modern programming languages such as Python, including NumPy, TensorFlow, SQL, and PyTorch

Eligibility:

•Minimum 12 months experience in current role/ position.

•Should have at least “On track” or equivalent rating in last appraisal

•Should not be under any Performance Continuity Plan, or had any official Disciplinary action within the last 3 months

•Should not have applied for any other IJP within MMGS in the last 3 months
