Job Description 

As part of the TS&T team, the incumbent will play an important role in supporting PwC Canada engagements from India in driving the company’s strategic and operational initiatives, implementing innovative data solutions, measuring results early and often, and ensuring performance meets the desired targets.

The primary job responsibilities include formulating data strategies in line with business objectives, modernizing data platforms, and designing solutions for data ingestion, storage, and analytics. The role also requires proficiency in data integration patterns, with a strong emphasis on data governance, security, and compliance.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Knowledge 

PwC’s Technology Strategy & Transformation practice is aimed at providing client solutions that are directly related to the CIO/CTO/CDO, managing/transforming business functions, providing diligence with respect to technologies involved and supporting data modernization/migration initiatives. We are looking for candidates with experience and skillset in two or more of the following areas::

Data Strategy Development

  • Develop comprehensive data strategy that align with clients’ business goals, utilizing cloud/ non-cloud technologies for effective data management, storage, and analytics.
  • Conduct data maturity assessments and gap analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s data landscape and identify areas for improvement and growth.

Data Architecture design

  • In-depth knowledge of data engineering principles and best practices.
  • Ability to design and optimize data storage and processing solutions for scalability and performance.
  • Expertise in integrating disparate data sources and systems.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

Data Management and Governance:

  • Develop data governance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of data lifecycle management and data retention policies to effectively manage data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with master data management concepts and practices to maintain accurate and consistent data across the organization.

Data Security and Compliance:

  • Understanding of data security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in assessing data security measures and implementing appropriate security controls as part of design.
  • Knowledge of data security techniques, including data encryption, access controls and data masking.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of data architecture and engineering practices.:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of the client’s data landscape, leading data initiatives, and designing secure and cost-effective data environments.
  • Develop a comprehensive data strategy that includes a business case and roadmap aligned with the client’s business goals, leveraging cloud technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
  • Design scalable and secure cloud data architectures, considering factors such as data ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in cloud data management and analytics, and share knowledge with clients and internal teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings with key stakeholders to gather information and insights about data needs and requirements and integrate with legacy systems.
  • Support RFP and proposal response building. Work on firm reinvestment activities and support thought leadership in the field of data strategy.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to clients in a clear and persuasive manner, ensuring data security solution design and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support during the implementation phase, working closely with client teams to ensure the successful execution of the data strategy.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience as a Data strategy consultant, in assessing, designing and delivering data solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in data design patterns, architecture best practices, cost optimizations, delivering purpose-built data solutions.
  • Experience with core data services, including storage, databases, applications, and data analytics services.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and processing technologies, such as data lakes, data warehouses, and serverless computing.
  • Experience with data migration and integration projects, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data pipelines and data mapping.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, data integration, and data security.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of data strategy, with the ability to apply them to drive innovation and improve business outcomes.
  • Experience in preparing cost estimation for data solutions.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders from various departments to gather requirements and define data strategy objectives.
  • Proficiency in using various analytical tools and software, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to develop the approach, pricing, and team structure for proposals.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated expertise in successfully delivering data strategy projects
    • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms and data management (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty, Google Cloud Certified – Data Engineer) are highly desirable.
