Medical Imaging Analyst – Radiology
Job Description
The Image Analyst is a specialized role within the Radiology Department, focused on the acquisition, processing, and presentation of three-dimensional (3D) medical images. This position plays a critical role in supporting accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and medical interventions by providing intricate and detailed 3D reconstructions of anatomical structures. The Image Analyst collaborates with radiologists, clinical teams, and technology experts to ensure the successful integration of 3D imaging into patient care. The Analyst could assist with methods, procedures, and post processing of data specific to research or core lab projects supported by grant commitments, including independent sub-projects.
A Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics, or other related field of study is required. Knowledge of basic mathematics and proficiency with computers are required.
Additional Qualifications
Additional graduate study or course work in specialty area or M.S. or equivalent is preferred. Direct experience in one of these areas is desired: Biomedical imaging, MRI imaging, image processing, database management. Hands-on experience with medical imaging software and tools for image acquisition, processing, and analysis. Experience in quantitative image analysis techniques, including feature extraction, segmentation, registration, and classification. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical imaging data and draw meaningful conclusions. Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in medical imaging analysis, such as Python, MATLAB, or R.
Familiarity with medical imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, PET/CT, etc. Understanding and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease progression/treatment on imaging (prior project experiences). Strong computer skillset with MS office and experience working with electronic health record data. Hands-on experience with medical imaging software and tools for image acquisition, processing, and analysis. Experience in quantitative image analysis techniques, including feature extraction, segmentation, registration, and classification. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical imaging data and draw meaningful conclusions. Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in medical imaging analysis, such as Python, MATLAB, or R. Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong attention to detail, analytical skills. Familiarity with DICOM, FIRE, and other related medical informatics standards.
