Summary

  

Working as a SQL Database Engineer at Gainwell, you will be instrumental in the development of applications stacks including front-end, database, and API architecture. Apply modern ‘Software Development’ techniques to design and code fail-proof applications. From the ground up, implement the latest web framework technologies for delivering new SaaS products to a cloud-based environment. Engage with other engineers, designers, and testers to follow the software development lifecycle and bring innovative solutions to life. Integrate new applications with other existing products and services within our ecosystem. Acting as a guide and mentor to other engineers and helping us to adopt industry best practices for Lean/Agile SDLC.

  • Develop code for projects crossing multiple product lines or a major phase of significant projects. 
  • Participates in code reviews to ensure quality standards and business objectives are being met.
  • Database query knowledge is essential in the role. Should be able to reconstruct SQL/columnar queries and optimize them as needed. 
  • Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Provide complex technical consultation to other organizations; interacts with senior customer personnel and internal senior management. 
  • Participate in product design meetings with management, other developers, and cross-functional technical teams to ensure that product development adheres to client specifications and is consistent across various units.

What we’re looking for

 

  • 6+ years of web based software development experience working with enterprise products, services and requirements preferably in a health and human services domain
  • 3+ years experience with cloud based software development (AWS, Google or Azure) using infrastructure-as-code patterns (IAC)
  • Experience with any web programming language (JavaScript, Python, Ruby or Java), and C# .Net is preferred
  • Knowledge of non-relational/columnar databases will be required
  • Experience with: Agile/Lean concepts; Git and Gitflow (or similar) patterns for code management; PostGres or SQLServer, or real time event/streaming data, document data stores (Redis, MongoDB, etc)
  • Experience using continuous integration and deployment systems
  • SAFe certification or working knowledge is a plus
