Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a dynamic and collaborative National Director reporting to the Vice President, Impact and Evaluation. The National Director leads the Data Analytics and Federation Reporting team reporting within PPFA’s Federation Engagement and Impact Division.

Purpose:
The National Director leads the Data Analytics and Federation Reporting department, helps to establish a National Office unified data strategy that centers data equity, increases access to data and data reporting, and advances data analytics and storytelling. This position will be tasked with magnifying the sharing of data insights across the Federation, informing the strategic priorities of the organization, and providing evidence for persuasive policy development.

Partnering across the National Office, the National Director collaborates on the development of a multi-year roadmap to expand, deepen, and integrate Planned Parenthood’s availability of and use of internal and external data. Executing on the roadmap while ensuring the ethical and equitable use of data is critical.
The National Director will inform our strategic efforts by leading a group of analysts with skill sets ranging from advanced analytics and reporting to data science. These individuals are focused on turning data into action and informing solutions to complex challenges in pursuit of the goal of strengthening our organization through macro level insights. This role will require using existing and emerging data solutions and working with business partners that lead Federation programmatic work to develop and test models. Responsibilities include building relationships with external partners and business partners to incorporate tools and capabilities for descriptive analytics, predictive modeling, and prescriptive analytics along with compelling visualization of data.

Delivery
:
  • Establish a robust vision and actionable roadmap to guide Planned Parenthood’s investment in reporting and analytics and the use of data for storytelling around our impact.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the impact of data collected and reported on at PPFA at the scale needed to achieve our ambitious goals.
  • Develop distribution models and deploy easy-to-use visualization tools, reports, and analyses that ensure the National Office makes data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate with other National Directors and teams throughout the Federation to inform PPFA’s strategic efforts by ensuring the organization has appropriate data sets to guide decision making.
  • Through the use of modeling, analytical tools, forecasting, and external data sources, act as a strategic advisor and thought partner on critical decisions and program priority setting.
  • Oversee the continual improvement of PPFA’s data reporting portfolio, ensuring that reports are relevant, impactful, and timely for users.
  • Seek out collaboration in securing support from IT in establishing the critical data infrastructure and data engineering to drive efficient, secure, and scalable data solutions.
  • Build and lead overall strategy and direction of the Analytics and Insights disciplines; lead and advise staff, affiliate partners, external partners, and consultants to ensure that data solutions align with Federation goals.
Engagement:
  • Consult with and share insights to stakeholders at all levels of the Federation, including affiliate executives, PPFA executives, and PPFA division and department heads.
  • Ensure a strong presence for delivering findings to National Office executives, leaders, and staff, including presentations and written deliverables (e.g. decks, reports, analyses).
  • Engage with National Office stakeholders on high-priority data topics and strategic questions the Federation is looking to answer.
  • Excel at collaboration, with the ability to understand and apply product needs and requirements from a diverse set of organizational stakeholders.
  • Represent Planned Parenthood at external meetings, professional conferences, and advisory groups.
  • Build relationships with partners internally and externally to advance Planned Parenthood’s mission through our analytic capabilities.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a team of professionals, and contribute data-related expertise and thought partnership to the broader organizational strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree or above (preferred) in a discipline relevant to data strategy in a health care or related setting
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in data analysis/reporting, healthcare analysis/business intelligence (BI), public health insights, or related areas
  • Senior leadership experience leading a team of seasoned analytics and data professionals, many of whom are telecommuters
  • Experience in impact strategy, measurement, reporting, decision support and data storytelling
  • Knowledge of integrated data systems, including databases (data warehouses or lakes), as well as experience with tools (such as Tableau, R, Alteryx, Esri)
  • Understanding of data governance practices and concepts
  • Experience with a metadata management software (like Collibra) preferred
  • Experience using data to drive health equity, including disaggregating data and considering the impacts on multiple communities, including communities of color

TRAVEL:
0-25% / Full-Time Telecommuter or NYC or DC Based

$195,000 – $207,000 a year
Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
