Job Overview:
The OWG Tech department is looking to hire a highly motivated Data Engineer who would describe Databricks as their main skillset. You will play a crucial role in our data transformation program that will see data sources and analytical data processing shift from on-prem sources to a centralized Databricks platform in AWS. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, with a specific emphasis on leveraging Databricks technologies. You will work closely with our data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of our data systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Designing, developing, and managing modern data platforms leveraging Databricks, Informatica IICS and related technologies.

Develop, maintain and optimise data models and ETL pipelines for data processing efficiency.

Design and implement processes to ingest data from various sources into Databricks in alignment with Architectural standards.

Use Databricks to integrate, consolidate, and cleanse data to ensure it is accurate and ready for analysis.

Optimise data storage in Databricks for efficient querying and analysis, leveraging Delta Lake versioned data management.

Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and other business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

Promote the available data and analytics capabilities to business stakeholders and educate them in leveraging these capabilities.

Manage data access and security within Databricks, aligning with organizational policies and compliance requirements.

Engage with clients to support architectural designs and solve technical queries swiftly and effectively.

Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, continuously improving skills and knowledge.
Experience:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
-
Minimum 5+ years experience in data engineering or equivalent data role
-
Minimum 2-3 projects delivered with hands-on experience in Databrick ecosystem
-
Expertise in data modelling, ETL development, and data warehousing
-
Familiarity with Databricks medallion architecture

Experience working with Delta Live Tables
-
Familiarity with Unity Catalog
-
Experience working with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica IICS and SSIS
-
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala and SQL for data manipulation and scripting

Experience handling different data types (JSON, XML, Parquet, unstructured) for both batch and streaming ingestion
-
Experience with streaming Data in Kakfa/Event Hubs/Stream Analytics etc
-
Agile delivery experience using methodologies like Scrum or SAFe, and tools like Jira and Azure DevOps.

Experience migrating data and associated pipelines from on-prem sources to cloud

Databricks Data Engineering Professional certification is highly desirable
