 The Operational Data Management Associate Engineer supports the business by implementing best practices for the RWECE data historian (AVEVA PI).  This position performs the design, implementation and administration of data streams required for end users across the RWECE organization.This role requires understanding field equipment and controls for solar, wind, and storage plants, and the ability to translate incoming data into consistent standards for user consumption.  This role will require participation in continuous improvement and automation initiatives to improve throughput to meet the needs of the growing portfolio. This position will engage with a variety of customer bases, including Operations, Engineering and Asset Management in order to assess business needs and develop solutions that enable data-driven decision making.

 

Resposnsibilities:

  • Maintain PI and data engineering standards, tooling, and visualizations to meet needs of the existing and growing RWECE asset portfolio
  • Implement data collection and quality standards for new construction and pre-existing assets
  • Scope of responsibilities include PI Asset Framework, PI tag configurations, tag taxonomies, operational displays, and critical alerts
  • Support evaluation and implementation of commercial off-the-shelf tools and custom methods to improve workflows in the management and automation of data standards
  • Support data quality investigations and data quality corrections
  • Educate users in capabilities and best practices of the PI System
  • Identify use cases that require input from other groups or escalation to management or data governance team
  • Act as a strong team participant in an Agile environment and align to product delivery and release management techniques
  • Perform site visits and face-to-face customer service engagement as appropriate
  • Optimize, automate, and document routine tasks related to data management

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or MS/MA in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical), Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or similar field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in related role or field
  • Data visualization using any commercial-off-the-shelf product (i.e. AVEVA PI Vision or ProcessBook, AspenTech, MS Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, SEEQ, MS Excel) or programmatic methods (i.e. Python, MATLAB, R)
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Exposure to one or more SCADA systems (i.e. Ignition, Emerson Ovation, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Wonderware) is preferred
  • Exposure to AVEVA PI Builder and PI Asset Framework is preferred
  • Familiarity with programming in one or more languages
  • Familiarity with control systems architecture and logic, network infrastructure, and industrial communication standards/protocols (OPC, Modbus, DNP)
  • Can work with a team but can also take independent responsibility for projects
  • Perform and prioritize tasks across multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Can work through ambiguous problems
  • Customer-oriented, enjoys making connections and building trust with people both in-person and at remote locations
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Responds well to direction and coaching

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations.  The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time. 

 

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in  New York  is $77,000 – $116,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
