This Opportunity
Our Aquatic Sciences Team is seeking an Part Time Early Careers Environmental Scientist, Data Analyst to work out of our San Diego Office location.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience supporting regulatory compliance programs in the aquatic environment and/or experience working in an environmental laboratory setting. Knowledge and experience in data analysis and QA/QC will be central to the role. Database experience using MS Excel, the ability to follow strict QA/QC procedures and strong attention to detail is required. Knowledge of statistical procedures, sample collection techniques; analytical chemistry, and good writing skills are desired.
Your Impact
• Support a variety of tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Preparing data summaries, data analysis, data entry, QA/QC
•Assisting in the preparation of study reports
•Participating in field efforts (10-25% of time collecting stormwater, sediment and/or tissues or measuring water quality). Small boat handling and trailering skills are a plus.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated interest in a related area of expertise: e.g., Aquatic Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Ecology
• Experience using data spreadsheets (MS Excel), database and statistical programs.
• A strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
• This position will occasionally require weekend work or overtime hours depending on a fluctuating schedule subject to weather and project needs.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $25- 37/hr
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
