Partner Engineer, Database
Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Candidates will typically have 6 years of experience with designing and migration of workloads to cloud environments, including enterprise wide Oracle/DB2 to PostgreSQL, MYSQL, NOSQL databases.
- Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in building strategic business partnerships, working with partners and customers in an architect or delivery role.
- Experience in technical sales or professional consulting in systems integration, large-scale data transfer/management, and enterprise database performance.
- Experience with distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases and delivering cloud-based solutions for enterprise customers.
- Experience managing external partners/customers.
- Understanding of databases and data technologies, including Oracle database technologies, PL/SQL development, administration and management tools, database performance tuning techniques and troubleshooting.
- Ability to absorb complex technical concepts and communicate them to a non-technical audience effectively.
About the job
As a Specialist Database Partner Engineer for Google Cloud, you will work closely with Partner Development Managers and Partner Engineers to grow and support the Google Cloud Database partner ecosystem. You will understand the technical solutions and capabilities of our partners and recommend the right partner to our customers.
In this role, you will lead the database efforts to enable partners with technical knowledge in database technologies and solutions. You will contribute to customer adoption of Google Cloud by supporting partners as they illustrate how Google Cloud database services can help customers innovate, bring their services to market faster, and create new business growth streams. You will help partners succeed in database migration from legacy (e.g., Oracle, DB2) database portfolios to Google Cloud’s offerings, supporting application migration and deployment, ensuring they have full access to Google Cloud’s artefacts, tools, templates, and best practices. Additionally, you will collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to stay ahead of industry trends and propose enhancements to Google Cloud products based on interactions with our partners.

Responsibilities
- Work with partners to identify and qualify customer business opportunities for Oracle/DB2 migrations and new Google native databases. Understand key customer business and technical issues, and develop strategies and solutions to support their implementations.
- Inspire partners and peers to solve difficult problems with novel solutions, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and coordinating technical resources.
- Help our partner ecosystem design the architecture and the migration strategy, minimizing the migration effort, risk and downtime.
- Engage with partners to help them demonstrate and prototype migration from Oracle/DB2 into our Google Cloud database offerings in customer/partner environments, and travel to customer sites, conferences and other related events as needed.
- Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to complete solution using best practices on Google Cloud.
