Job Description

SMX is seeking a Power BI Developer who will directly support the Secretary of the Air Force / Concept Development Management Office (SAF/CDM), Enterprise Operations (CDME). The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing applications and reports using Microsoft Power BI, along with familiarity with other Power Platform products such as Power Apps and Power Automate. This developer will work with program management, senior leadership (SES), contracts personnel, senior technical personnel, and other functional support organizations to create and support business applications, reports, and workflows with a Power BI solution. This role will span all areas of technology delivery including but not limited to; requirements gathering, solution design and development, testing, and support.

We are looking for a talented individual who is proactive in problem-solving, who can identify areas of opportunity and will apply technology to generate measurable positive outcomes, and who has experience building solutions leveraging Microsoft’s Power BI.

To succeed in this position, a successful candidate must have an analytical and technical way of thinking, be able to explain concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and enjoy expanding one’s skillset as new technology presents itself to continue to deliver better to the organization and our clients.

This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand and translate business requirements into well-architected solutions using Microsoft Power BI
  • Collaborate and engage with SMEs and Domain experts to gain a full understanding of business needs and requirements for every client
  • Develop and support custom reports and dashboards using Power BI
  • Design end-to-end solutions that improve collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing using Power BI
  • Utilize connectors and leverage AI Builder to enhance Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Design and create data models for Power BI
  • Participate/Lead technical design sessions; collect, analyze, identify, and document functional requirements that meet the client’s needs
  • Embed Power BI components in Teams, SharePoint, web applications, and more
  • Govern, address, and remediate security vulnerability findings in Power BI
  • Install and configure data gateways for Power BI
  • Perform unit testing and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Document and demonstrate solutions through flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, user guides, and more
  • Be imaginative, enthusiastic, and courageous; show high creativity and initiative and deliver new approaches to solutions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Power BI and its components
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database design
  • Experience with developing and maintaining documentation, frameworks, and strategies as they relate to Power BI
  • Background in data warehouse design (dimensional modeling) and data mining
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and deliver quality results
  • Ability to train/educate non-technical individuals on Power BI
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort in both large and small audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Hands-on experience and strong fluency in: Power BI, Power Automate, and other Power Platform products
  • BS Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • Masters Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or equivalent experience

The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. The proposed salary for this position is:$103,600—$155,400 USD
