Job Description
Our data analytics product is built to manage large amounts of data from many sources using the power of Snowflake and Qlik Sense/Power BI.
The Power BI expert will be responsible for understanding business needs, translating them into technical requirements, and ensuring successful product implementations. You will work closely with stakeholders, project managers, scrum teams, and developers to optimize our data analytics, workflows, automate processes, and improve user experiences. Your role will be pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
- Engage with IT and business stakeholders to elicit and document detailed requirements for Power BI enhancements, configurations, customizations, and integrations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand pain points, process inefficiencies, and user needs.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
Power BI Configuration and Customization:
- Configure Power BI modules, dashboards, reports, and datasets based on documented requirements.
- Customize Power BI applications to align with organizational processes.
- Implement and maintain platform-wide features such as data models, service portals, and knowledge bases.
Report Development and Review:
- Build and develop Power BI reports based on gathered requirements.
- Set up the Power BI Semantic Model for data sharing across reports and manage datasets.
- Review and validate reports created by report developers to ensure they meet design and functionality standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to report developers to enhance report quality and performance.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process automation and optimization using Power BI.
- Continuously assess and enhance Power BI capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with development teams, system administrators, business requesters, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless Power BI integrations and implementations.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions to promote Power BI adoption.
- Communicate product status, risks, and issues effectively to the leadership team.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Validate that solutions meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and drive defect resolution.
Documentation and Training:
- Create comprehensive documentation, including process flows, user guides, and technical specifications.
- Organize training for end-users and support teams on Power BI functionality and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of completed Power BI projects.
- Strong understanding of design principles and the ability to translate design requirements into technical specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of Power BI tools, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, Power Apps, Power Automate and Power Query.
- Experience with SQL, and other query languages.
- Experience integrating Power BI with other data sources (e.g., databases, APIs, cloud services).
- Expertise in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex calculations and measures.
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders (at least a B2 level – mandatory)
- Experience in report development, including building, reviewing, and validating reports.
- Knowledge of web application integration and embedding
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of keeping teams on schedule and within scope.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to think strategically and propose innovative solutions.
