Principal Autonomy Integration Engineer
Job Description
The Autonomy Integration – Commercial team works to connect the development of our technical stack (software, hardware, and everything in between) to our business case, guiding development and deployment of autonomous vehicles into new cities and within existing ones. We work across the organization to deliver and execute on the roadmaps for development and technology growth, from writing code to diving into data to defining the next big thing the technology needs to achieve.
Motional is looking for a Principal Autonomy Integration Engineer to guide autonomous system product development. This role will work directly with development teams, strategic functions, operations, and senior leadership to define our path forward and lead major company initiatives.
The team needs your help to accomplish our mission:
- Work to define the vision, strategy and roadmap for functional areas of the autonomous system, as well as the markets we will launch in
- Lead executives and key partners through sophisticated decisions to drive progress toward our strategic goals
- Synthesize technical and analytical insights with product intuition to formulate compelling roadmap investments and adjust quickly to new information
- Secure commitment and support for your roadmap through detailed and thoughtful communication with engineering teams, key partners and executive leaders
- Consistently deliver results through coordinated execution across AV engineering teams in an applied research setting with significant experimentation
- Identify and lead improvements to the team’s innovation and approach enabling us to scale our team and impact
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of proven success as a technical contributor leading development in robotics or similar industries – at least 2 of which are within the autonomous vehicle industry
- Ability to generate crucial insights through quantitative and qualitative analysis
- In-depth knowledge of modern software development and machine learning engineering practices
- MS in electrical, computer, or robotics engineering or equivalent technical experience
- Outstanding communication skills: verbal and written, with engineers, non-technical partners, and executives
- Thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and order
- Creativity and curiosity: you’re driven to find novel solutions and push forward an entire industry
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- 10+ years of experience in robotics or similar industries
- Experience with highly technical product management
- Experience developing safety critical software
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. Salary Range$199,000—$266,500 USD
