Responsible for designing or providing inputs into the design of data platforms for the company. Provides framework for how data and data related technologies and methodologies are used across the company. Enables and support analytics initiatives and operational processes. Collaborates with cross functional teams, platform teams and Enterprise architecture to drive innovation, document and adopt standard data architecture artifacts. Ensures data architectures are designed for security and align with the company’s data governance, risk management and cybersecurity policies. Ensures that data assets are managed and flows appropriately through the enterprise and meets business needs. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Drives key decisions around how we work with data at Discover, both within the Data organization and for the broader company, including taking ownership of the key database and data warehouse design initiatives.
- Provides advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes.
- Collaborates with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.
- Advises our Data Engineering teams on best data practices and will shape the future landscape of data at Discover, including architecting the databases and data streams to power Discovers core analytic pipelines and processes.
- Create and maintain big-picture design view of product portfolio
- Design and document solutions that meet the business needs.
- Conduct feasibility analysis, product comparison, capability mapping, high level estimations
- Apply Architecture development processes as required by the organization
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelors – Computer Science or related
- 8+ Years – Software Development, Data Engineering, or related
- Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus architecture scale
Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience with designing, building and implementing Data warehouse applications
- Experience with Ab initio, Snowflake and Terradata
- Experience with designing, building and implementing complex reporting applications using tools such as Jaspersoft
- Hands on experience with Architecture and designing
- Knowledge of Micro service architecture, Hexagonal architecture pattern and Domain driven design
- Experience with Payment networks and the Banking industry.
- Good communication, and presentation skills

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $148,000.00 to $204,000.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
