Job DescriptionThis OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Project Engineer for our Chicago, IL office. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challengesYour ImpactProject Leadership & DeliveryManage multiple activities and projects simultaneouslyOversee all phases of construction, including preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. Provide overall site management, coordination, and planning for subcontractors and developers.

Technical OversightSupport scope review and development with internal technical teams and operational stakeholders. Provide direction on engineering design, AutoCAD layouts, building details, schedules, and materials in alignment with standards. Review designs and ongoing construction for compliance with building specifications and identify opportunities for value engineering. Contract & Budget ManagementAssist in negotiating contracts and change orders with consultants and general contractors.

Ensure contracts are cost-effective, fit for purpose, and include appropriate SLAs. Analyze proposed cost and time change requests and guide internal change requests for validity and impact.

Compliance & Risk ManagementLead or assist in negotiations with regulatory bodies and AHJ entities. Audit contractors for compliance with safety, quality, and competency standards. Assess project performance using KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.

Stakeholder EngagementFacilitate due diligence evaluations for new opportunities. Maintain clear, concise, and transparent communication across all teams. Partner with transition teams for base building management and turnover documentation.

Coach and guide project teams (developers, engineers, contractors, internal stakeholders) throughout the project lifecycle. Address and resolve underperformance issues promptly.

Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent Minimum 1 year of experience in constructionProven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives. Proficiency in project management software (eBuilder, Procore preferred)Familiar with BIM, AutoCad, and scheduling softwareOSHA 10-hour certification or ability to obtain. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Expected Salary: $76,200 – $114,300WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
