Project Specialist II – Transit Operations Absenteeism – (2500008C)Description SALARY$75,400. 40 POSITION SUMMARYUnder direction, performs various administrative and absenteeism-related project activities in support of the office of the Chief Transit Officer, including departmental-wide data analytics as it relates to absenteeism, strategic project support, departmental administrative support, and special projects as assigned. Qualifications PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Collects, analyzes, and evaluates data gathered from various projects related to absenteeism and synthesizes the data into meaningful reports and presentations.
o Performs research and gathers information and data on employee absenteeism and compliance with CTA’s leave policy. o Reviews correspondence from the third-party administrator daily to notify departments of the employee status. o Conducts audits of departmental leave to identify trends that impact staffing. o Collaborates closely with Analyst and departments to gather pertinent information regarding the employee’s leave status.
o Updates logs, records, and databases with data collected for analysis according to record-keeping practices. o Creates detailed and concise presentations and reports based on the analysis performed and provides information to management.
o Preserves confidentiality of the employee medical documentation and files. o Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation policies including FMLA, and ADA. • Maintains files and correspondence on behalf of the office of the Chief Transit Officer.
o Organizes and maintains files and correspondence and follows up on pending communications and projects with limited direction. o Reviews and routes routine correspondences received to correct individuals, as needed. o Communicates with various individuals and departments to distribute department communications.
• Acts as a liaison with various departments to aide in project management and completion. • Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in an administrative position that includes project management, budget management, report preparation, and/or data analysis functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery. • Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Working knowledge of business analysis standards and processes.
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies. • Working knowledge of administrative management policies and procedures. • General knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations.
• Advanced computer and analytical skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Good project management and analytical and decision making abilities.
