KBR is rapidly developing capabilities across a range of engineering R&D areas. We are looking for candidates who have interest in the emerging field of edge computing and its applications that span UAVs to health-care applications. This position is for an R&D data scientist/engineer working on collecting, analyzing and documenting 5G communication data for edge computing for SLAM and other applications suitable for solution in an edge network. Assist in developing data collection process. Analyze collected data and recommend modifications to the collection process. Write technical documentation regarding SLEDGE edge computing.
Required skills and traits:
- Candidates should have solid understanding of edge computing and previous experience in optimization and statistical analysis.
- Filtering/Signal processing/Training and Validation data set preprocessing
- Model Development including noise modeling
- Experience performing statistical parameter estimation including familiarity with Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) and Maximum A-Posterior Estimation (MAP)
- Experience computing statistical validation metrics on large data sets including chi-square, coefficient of determinism (R^2), and parameter confidence intervals
- Experience in developing technical documentation
- Track record of successful technical publications
- 15+ years of experience
Other desired skills:
- Familiarity with models for wireless communication systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Education: Candidate must have a PhD under the discipline of Data Science/Engineering
Basic Compensation:
$97.12 per hour – $145.67 per hour
This range is for the California area only.
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
