Position Summary
Sony AI is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven research intern with experience in reinforcement learning and robotics to contribute to our flagship robotics project in gastronomy. During the internship, you will work closely with our mentors to design, and deploy reinforcement learning solutions for robotic systems. The ultimate goal of the internship is the completion of a project using vision-based reinforcement learning to do high-precision manipulation of food. We encourage interns to bring their own ideas to the table for problems and solutions – our project requires creativity and flexibility and offers the chance to be a part of something the world has never seen before. == Roles and Responsibilities ==
– Conduct research in reinforcement learning within the domain of robotics and specifically for gastronomy.
– Design and deploy reinforcement learning solutions to robotic systems.
– Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences.
== Required Qualifications ==
– Pursuing a PhD, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Robotics, or related areas.
– Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning
– Excellent programming skill, especially in Python
– Excellent communication skills in English
== Bonus Qualifications ==
– Experience with version control (git)
– Experience with real-time control
– Experience with simulation for reinforcement learning
– Experience with model predictive control
– Experience with vision-based reinforcement learning
– Familiarity with Robot Operating Systems (ROS)
Duration The internship duration will be between 4 to 6 months.
Working Location Tokyo (Onsite) or Boston (Hybrid: must be available to come into the office at least 3 days a week)
The target hourly rate for this internship is $40.00 to $50.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
