We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Master Thesis worker / Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to a strategic research project.

Your role and goals

The selected person will work on a project that involves multi-modal human robot/machine interaction and assistance for workers in production or intralogistics tasks and environment.

You will work together with Aalto Factory of the Future team and will be using the research equipment at the Aalto Factory of the Future facility (https://www.aalto.fi/en/futurefactory), which investigates radical concepts and methods that enable flexibility and high intelligence of industry sectors, based on various technology enablers such as Digital Twins, Robotics, Artificial intelligence and the IEC 61499 distributed automation.

Your experience and ambitions

To be eligible to apply to this position, the applicants must be enrolled in a Master’s degree program at Aalto University and have a good command in English. Due to the requirement of the research topic, the candidates must be able to work on-site.

We expect candidates to have some background and interest in industrial automation systems engineering or robotics, augmented/mixed reality, artificial intelligence, or embedded systems. Experience in software development (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++) and software engineering, 3D / 2D development (e.g., Unity) skills would be essential.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, combined with effective communication, good teamwork and positive collaboration attitude. Prior relevant industrial or research experience, or published papers in related domains is a significant plus.

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting (gross) salary for a Research assistant is approximately 2100 EUR/month, while the salary of a Master thesis worker is approximately 2500 EUR/month.
