Job Description

About us

inait is an AI deep-tech start-up founded in 2017 by Henry Markram, renowned professor in neuroscience, director of EPFL’s Blue Brain Project (BBP) and co-founder of scientific publisher Frontiers. inait has raised CHF 45 million to fulfil its mission: bridging the gap between human and artificial intelligence by leveraging neuroscience research.

Our Approach

With a proven ability to leverage AI innovation for building intelligent solutions for previously unsolved business challenges, we build proof-of-concepts across a wide range of industries and use-cases. We do this in order to create as many real-world applications of our core research as possible, and we invest strategically into those solutions. In those cases where the main value is driven by general AI innovation (and not our core research), we capture the created value through a spin-out or tech sale. This setup allows us to prove the business value of our research and gives the team a wide range of personal development paths – in research, development & engineering within inait, or building a new business in one of our spin-outs.

Join our Team

We are a team of 50+ ambitious & creative talents and are looking for an impact-driven research scientist with a focus on the intersection of computational neuroscience and machine learning/AI to join the inait Core Research Team. The candidate can either come from a Machine Learning background with a demonstrable interest in (Computational) Neuroscience, or vice versa.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute and actively shape the research and development of the next generation of neuroscience-inspired machine learning/AI methods
  • Work closely with a team of computational neuroscientists, machine learning engineers and software developers towards business solutions
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments at the intersection of neuroscience and AI through literature search and attendance of conferences, and integrate relevant findings into ongoing projects

  • Strong Python software engineering skills and knowledge of the main libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, etc.)
  • Experience in using machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn and PyTorch/JAX/TensorFlow
  • Ability to work autonomously and to design and conduct rigorous research experiments
  • Excellent team player with a strong desire to learn and share knowledge
  • Strong communication skills and ability to produce high-quality visualizations to present research results
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
