Objectives of the Position
Our Manufacturing & OpEx Intelligence Team is supporting the operational divisions and central functions with global data around Manufacturing, Asset Effectiveness and provides the required transparency for BASF production. This data is the essential part of all improvements of our manufacturing processes.
In this role, you are developing new applications based on novel AI-driven technologies. Your tasks include crawling of a wide range of data, creation of statistical analyses, selection and training of machine learning models and their evaluation. Result is the classified structured data, stored in a global database, used by business and technology experts.
Main Tasks
- Designing, developing and deploying AI-based solutions using Large Language Models to address specific advanced use cases in Manufacturing and Technology.
- Integrating AI solutions into our existing workflows and platforms (e.g., CI/CD pipelines)
- Continuously improving and optimizing AI models to enhance their accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Developing web scrapping scripts to get data.
- You apply NLP technologies for data extraction, selection and classification.
- You stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science and maintain contact with the BASF and external data science communities.
Requirements
Education & work experience
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and team-player skills
- At least 5 years working experience.
Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)
- Strong experience in working with deep learning architectures like transformers and related models (such as GPT-3 or similar models)
- Excellent programming skills in Python, and experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch)
- Experience with cloud platforms (ideally Microsoft Azure), containerization technologies and with deploying and managing AI solutions in a cloud.
- Crawling skills by using standard IT frameworks (e.g., Scrappy and Playwright)
Technical & Professional Knowledge (Additional)
- Experience in using OCR technologies.
- Experience in agile working methods.
- Experience in project management.
