Impact & contribution:
- As a Senior Associate Data Scientist within the Scoring and Model Monitoring Chapter Area, you will assist in the design and development of capability enhances supporting the Bank’s Customer Engagement Engine (CEE).
- This role involves designing and managing the optimisation and monitoring process within CEE, which ensures we are having the most relevant conversations with our customers.

- You will work closely with key stakeholders, such as Product Portfolio teams and cross-functional teams within Decision Science to ensure best customer and business outcomes. You will come with strong business acumen with demonstrable experience working with data and models.

See yourself in the team The Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) team is responsible for leading the delivery of world-class data, analytics and technology capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities.
- The Decision Science Scoring and Model Monitoring team (S&MM) supports the CDAO through the maintaining and scoring of our Next Best Conversations, ensuing our customers receive the most relevant conversations at any given touch point.
- The S&MM team also maintains propensity models via ongoing monitoring and validations, ensuring our models remain fit for purpose with CEE, as well as designing, and delivering capability enhances within the engine.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Capability enhancements to CEE: You will design and lead capability enhancements in CEE to uplift our engine, with a focus on automation of activities.
- We continuously add enhancements to CEE, ensuring that we drive value for the business and our customers. ·
- Model monitoring and validation: You will be responsible for the monitoring of models powering CEE to improve business and customer outcomes, by supporting validations, internal reviews and ongoing model monitoring activities.
- Next Best Conversation scoring: You will lead the scoring of our internal marketing campaigns ensuring that our customers receive the most accurate messaging at the right time and channel.
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage cross functional projects that span multiple months. You will be comfortable presenting your work to internal stakeholders, proactively addressing and responding to needs in a timely manner.
- More specifically this will include: Driving value through timely delivery of scoring requests Continue to uphold the models we use in CEE to a high standard via assessing their ongoing monitoring, taking actions where needed. Lead automation and value-add capability enhancements within CEE, utilising data science techniques in Python, R and SQL.
- Support the Senior Manager in S&MM, providing analytical support when needed.
- Develop working relationships and collaborate with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactively contributing to and encouraging the sharing of knowledge with team members and stakeholders. Demonstrating the group values.
- Be proactive in communication, career planning and personal development.
Essential Skills:
- Strong skills in manipulating and analysing complex datasets to extract valuable and actionable insights.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in data science, statistical modelling or relevant fields, working on end-to-end projects, preferable within retail banking or financial services with a focus on task automation.
- Good working knowledge of various machine learning models, including their applications, strengths, and limitations ·
- You have experience in overseeing the lifecycle of machine learning models, including model validation, monitoring and governance.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R, SQL or Python.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- You excel in collaborating with cross-functional teams to align analytics efforts with business objectives to drive success.
- Demonstrated skill in prioritising and managing multiple tasks enabling you to meet dynamic business needs while producing high-quality outputs.
- A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Statistics,/Analytics/Mathematical discipline Or Master’s degree Or Ph.D. in Data Science/Machine Learning.
