OverviewSenior Associate, Risk Management – Governance, Valuations, & InnovationCapital One’s Governance, Valuations, & Innovation (GV&I) Team is a second line of defense function housed within the Credit Risk & Analytics (CR&A) Division. GV&I is responsible for Risk Governance, Risk Appetite, Credit Risk Policy, and Assurance Exam Management activities for the Commercial Bank. The team’s contribution is critical in providing a foundation for sound risk management practices, complying with internal policies and regulations, and exhibiting the overall culture of Capital One.

Role DescriptionGV&I is seeking a motivated self-starter to join our dynamic team. The role offers exposure to a broad set of risk management activities and opportunities for professional growth. The individual will partner with associates across the Enterprise, Commercial Bank, and within CR&A to support integral efforts to streamline policy frameworks and implement strategic, transformative changes for the firm. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of risk management practices and be looking to deepen their knowledge in risk governance, enterprise risk, and commercial credit risk.

They must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment are essential to succeeding in this role.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Supporting the management of credit policy lifecycle, including drafting policy updates and communicating changes to stakeholdersAssisting stakeholders with policy questionsCollaborating with stakeholders across the three lines of defense to ensure products and initiatives are in compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirementsAssisting with ad-hoc projects/ initiativesFormulating and implementing solutions, leveraging technology to enhance credit processesLeveraging data to provide insights that enable stakeholders to make data-based decisionsAssisting with exam management and the remediation of Regulatory and Internal findingsPromoting GV&I’s learning and culture by facilitating continuous learning activities and team interactionsDesired Skills:Self-starter with a background in risk management, risk governance, or credit underwritingUnderstanding of commercial banking activities and the three lines of defense frameworkEffective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentation materialsAptitude for synthesizing complex issues into a clear and concise summaryKeen attention to detailProactive and results-orientedIndependent problem-solver with ability to navigate ambiguityAbility to establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of the organizationWilling to learn, adapts easily to change, and confident with diverse thinkingKnowledge and experience using Google Workspace (e. g. , Sheets, Slides, Docs)Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or military experienceAt least 2 years of experience in risk management, risk governance or credit underwriting at a financial institution or consultancy firmPreferred Qualifications:3+ years experience with one or more of the following: commercial risk governance and oversight, corporate or commercial real estate lendingAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
