Senior Business Intelligence Engineer
Job Description
Humana Healthy Horizons is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our National Medicaid Operations team. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer’s work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer describes the tools, technologies, applications and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present an organization’s raw data in order to create insightful and actionable business information. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
- Leads requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders to distill requirements from business requests.
- Works on development of clinical operations reporting, compliance metrics, and other workflow tools.
- Independently performs complex analysis for a wide range of requests, using data in different formats and from various platforms, and identifies behavioral data and patterns.
- Collaborates with cross functional teams to resolve data quality and operational issues and ensure timely delivery of products.
- Interprets data, analyzes results, and provides insights to determine operational impact, trends, and opportunities.

Required Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of technical experience in data analysis OR advanced degree in computer science or related field with three (3) years of technical experience in data analysis.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and querying using SQL.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, v-lookups, and pivot tables.
- Experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations.
- Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction.
- Experience working directly with stakeholders while fielding requirements, conducting product demos, testing, and providing support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience developing web applications in low code environments such as Quickbase or the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Experience gathering requirements and delivering UI/UX components of web applications.
- Experience building automations in cloud environments using platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Quickbase Pipelines, or Automation Anywhere.
- Advanced in SQL, SAS and other data systems.
- Experience with tools such as Tableau and PowerBI for creating data visualizations.
- Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling.
- Experience serving Managed Medicaid and LTSS populations.
- Experience in process mapping and process improvement.
Additional Information
- Workstyle: Home. Home workstyle is defined as remote but will use Humana office space on an as needed basis for collaboration and other face-to-face needs.
- Travel: minimal travel may be required, up to 5%.
- Typical Work Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$78,800 – $108,500 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
