About the role
As a Senior Data Analyst within a team that manages and delivers support to many products, the person will contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of the quality standards for various engineering products (e.g., Knovel) and databases of peer-reviewed, full-text scientific, technical and health literature (e.g., Knovel, ScienceDirect). This entails understanding of product cores and corresponding services associated with these assets, such as automated NLP and ML solutions that support the products in searching, indexing, enriching and managing their content. One of your main responsibilities will be to support the Knovel database, to translate Product and Data Science requirements for Technology and contribute to the expansion of data models. Knovel empowers corporate and academic engineers to solve complex engineering problems and to accelerate R&D by delivering trusted material property data, technical references, and interactive tools. Knovel is an ideal partner for project-based learning, preparing professionals and students for new engineering challenges, such as sustainability and Net Zero. With Knovel, engineers apply knowledge to provide sustainable solutions and achieve a faster time to market with reduced risk.
In this role you are required to become an expert in Knovel engineering database, with the focus on the quality assessment and support of the production supplier. A Data Analyst primarily work with the Content Team, assisting them with Quality Assurance/Control by looking at data from a Data Analyst point of view, creating smart MySQL queries to create a holistic view of the data, primarily focusing on interactive tables and graphs. In addition to that, your skills and expertise will be valuable for various other projects that the team covers. You will be joining an enthusiastic team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Discovery and Enrichment Experts and you will be part of the Data Science Research Content Operations division.
Your responsibilities:

Work with DS and Knovel Tech to automate Knovel production, where possible, and to implement automated tests and other quality checks.

Understand Knovel Data Structure and capable of interpreting the same.

Advise Suppliers on Specification of Interactive Objects.

Investigate and fix issues reported by customers.

Drive extraction content from books (PDF), journals (XML, HTML), equations (XML, created by Knovel) and large Interactive Databases compiled, converted, extracted and published on Knovel (Access, Excel).

Update supplier instructions and workflows for interactive content.

Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including Data Scientists, Tech Teams, and Domain Experts, to support the business needs.

Update documentation, develop QA strategies and metrics; design and implement efficient ways of improving QA processes.

Contribute to the product development, always aligned with the product and user needs.

Maintain strong relations with various stakeholders and data scientists.

Support the team with various projects.
What you should bring:

At least a master’s degree in engineering.

Fluency in SQL, XML and other markup languages, specifically XPATH.

Fluency in database design and query languages.
-
Proficiency with programming and scripting languages.

Knowledge of scientific content, enhancement and publishing processes, data mining, search engines, data excerption.

In-depth knowledge of domain specific databases and extensive understanding of product workflows.

Knowledge and experience with industry standard best practices regarding content QA and in-depth experience in quality assurance. Experience working with engineering databases is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills to address domain-specific challenges.
