Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

  • As a Business Analyst, you will have to understand business requirements and also have the ability to translate application/system functionality into functional specifications.
  • Working closely with the Data Governance / CDO team to understand the Critical Data Element (CDE) and their impact on Data Quality issues and also SOX /DQ controls
  • Performing gap analysis between existing SOX/DQ controls and the data governance/data reconciliation tool capability.
  • Ensuring of data quality issues are being monitored and tracked to closure.

Key Accountabilities

  • Understand the in-house data governance/reconciliation tool and ensure traceability between the product backlog & the tool.
  • Support the implementation of data governance/reconciliation tool across the various portfolios and ensure that the product backlog is updated for all new requirements not being met by the tool.
  • Understand the current SOX/Data Quality controls and translate these for implementation within the data governance/data reconciliation tool.
  • Conduct trainings/demos of the data governance/reconciliation tool.
  • Creation of data dictionaries for the different portfolios and enrich the descriptions where applicable. Review of the data dictionaries with the portfolio tech owners and reaching out to stakeholders for any clarifications required.
  • Import of portfolio wise  technical lineage  into Ab Initio Metadata Hub by coordinating with the technical / development teams
  • Understand and Lead the co-ordination of data quality issues across portfolios
  • Track data quality issues until remediation; Escalations in case on non-resolution of issues
  • Publish data quality dashboard giving views across portfolios
  • Representing in the multiple Data quality forums and managing expectations on the various data quality issues by providing the required updates.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

  • Ability to understand the portfolio level SOX / DQ control requirements and support the technical implementation of the same within data governance / reconciliation tool.
  • Support in the resolution of DQ issues by taking informed decisions of reaching out to relevant stakeholders and expedite where required.

Risk and Control Objective

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

  • Can work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with colleagues spread across multiple global locations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience/Exposure to SQL

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Has a good working knowledge of Retail Banking products such as Mortgages, Business Loans etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Visio and Excel and Word
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills

This role will be based out of Chennai.
