Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to lead analytics on our Operations team supporting them on scaling and mobilising our clinics, expansion to devolved nations, monitoring the quality of our supplier data captured in clinics, analysing the performance of our clinics against contractual SLAs, identifying inefficiencies in clinic operations, monitoring biosample logistics and analysis of participant support.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective. 

What you’ll be doing

To deliver our mission to recruit 5 million volunteers we need to run expansive clinical and logistical operations across the country. Your mission will be to support our operations teams to run our clinical operations effectively, reliably, and at scale through insights, analytics, and data.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • You’ll derive actionable insights from data to inform operational decisions such as improving clinical data quality captured, scaling our appointment capacity to new regions, understanding what factors drive non-attendance.
  • You’ll partner with Programme Operation teams, Product Managers, and other Analysts to set KPIs for our Operational teams and initiatives that maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of our clinics, biosample management and study support operations.
  • You’ll help us understand what factors effect quality of supplier clinic data, what clinics are operating inefficiently and how we can improve the user experience of our clinical app to improve data collection.
  • You’ll help us understand our study support operations, withdrawals, and complaints to ensure our study support operations scale effectively.
  • You’ll be the go-to person for appointment and clinic data at Our Future Health and regularly present an update to the wider team on your new insights and impact of changes.
  • You’ll provide presentations of insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders to help drive better decision making.
  • You’ll develop dashboards and automated reports to enable teams to monitor their KPIs and self-serve issues and trends.

Requirements

To succeed, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • You have advanced SQL skills (window functions, advanced joins).
  • Experience with modelling data and developing dashboards with a modern business intelligence tool such as Looker, Tableau or similar.
  • On-the-job experience with at least one programming language (Python/R).
  • Experienced working with modern data warehouses (BigQuery/Snowflake).
  • You tell compelling, actionable stories with data that enable senior stakeholders to make decisions with clarity.
  • You are a concise and engaging communicator that is comfortable communicating at different levels to different audiences.
  • You can automate complex processes and construct robust data pipelines.
  • You can translate business requests into clear analytical problems.
  • You’ve worked in cross functional teams involving Product, Engineering, Design and Research, and can manage senior stakeholders.
  • You’re a self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously.

Some extra skills that would be advantageous:

  • Familiarity with clinical and health data.
  • Prior experience with health research data either within the NHS, pharmaceutical or academic settings
  • Experience developing pipelines with dbt.
  • Experience in data modelling (Kimball/dimensional modelling).
  • Experience working with web analytics platforms (Mixpanel/Google Analytics/Amplititude).
