Job Description

In this role, you will:

  • Consult with business partners on effective metrics and measurements for key internal areas of focus (team/department dashboards)

  • “Connect the dots” with required datasets across all vanguard entities for use-case driven solutions.

  • Write & maintain complex queries & datasets for use in self-service reporting & analytics tools.

  • Partner with IT development teams to identify required data & where to obtain and store it.

  • Perform data validation & testing for regulatory submissions.

  • Design/develop scalable self-service solutions via applications such as Tableau, PowerBI or other tools that will help drive data literacy across the department.

  • Proactively identify & suggest key areas of opportunity for efficiency and business value.

  • Coach, train & mentor OGC crew to better enable a data-driven culture.

  • Write ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.

  • Translate business specifications into design specifications and code. Responsible for writing complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports. Ensures that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.

  • Actively contribute to all phases of solution development. Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.

  • Engage with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions, and goals. Bring structure to business requests, translate requirements into an analytical project approach, and lead projects through completion. Delegate tasks and provide tactical and strategic guidance to peers.

  • Acquire and compile structured and unstructured data and verify its quality, accuracy, and reasonableness.

  • Perform analyses of historical data to surface trends and insights using advanced analytical methods. Validate analytical techniques employed by other analysts.

  • Prepare and deliver visualizations and internal presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.

  • Develop, own, and manage recurring analytic or reporting processes.

  • Mentor, coach, train, and develop junior data analysts. Proactively expand knowledge of business and analytics and share with team members. Share and document best practices.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What it Takes:

  • Strong knowledge of metadata

  • Strong understanding of relational databases & their design

  • Expertise in utilizing AWS services to access & manipulate large datasets.

  • Query/programming skill in tools such as Athena, python/anaconda. Sagemaker a plus.

  • Mastery of data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI or similar

  • Attention to detail and proper documentation.

  • Excellent communication, relationship management, project management and conceptual thinking skills

  • Regulatory or Compliance knowledge a plus, but not required.

  • Willingness to jump in with both feet and make an immediate impact.

  • Desire to be challenged, but to also have fun!

  • Minimum of five years related work experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
