Role: Senior Data Analyst – Portfolio Management Unit, AIB UK.

 

Location: London / Belfast (Hybrid, 2 days in office)

 

This role is being offered on a full-time basis.

About the Role:

The UK Portfolio Management Unit supports the AIB UK business strategy by providing timely analysis and MI related to the credit portfolio. This is a key role that supports this work and involves extracting, analysing, and reporting portfolio data; communicating findings of analysis in written and verbal form; and working across the business to enhance data quality and completeness and ensure effective data governance.

 

Successful candidates will demonstrate a desire and ability to design and deliver responses to data analysis requests from internal and external stakeholders, to refine existing and design new reporting processes, and to work closely with a number of other AIB UK and AIB Group functions (both technical and non-technical) on the longer-term enhancement of data quality and completeness. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and self-motivation, and will provide practical experience within our small team to a range of credit risk and strategic concepts.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Interpreting complex data analysis requirements and leveraging the data warehouse to identify and build appropriate solutions
  • Enhancing the automation, efficiency, and control environment around existing regular reports
  • Analysing and interpreting credit portfolio data and external data, supporting a range of asset quality and performance monitoring activities (for example, to support ongoing enhancement of Early Warning Indicators)
  • Communicating analytical findings to senior stakeholders effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Taking a lead role in defining data requirements and driving data definition, extraction, and transformation logic 
  • Establishing collaborative relationships across UK and ROI functions to develop and deliver on data/reporting solutions

 

 

What you will bring:

  • Strong demonstrable knowledge of SQL databases (automation, report generation, root cause analysis, writing complex queries)
  • Demonstrable experience using statistical packages (SAS, Teradata, Excel etc.) to analyse complex datasets, draw conclusions, and present insights/findings
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills, including an ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences to deliver high quality and well-controlled reporting solutions
  • Familiarity with lending / credit risk principles and concepts
  • Education: Relevant Degree or Postgraduate qualification in a numerical discipline (e.g. Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Information Management etc.) and/or 3+ years applied experience (preferably in a Banking/Finance setting)
