Job Description

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

The Square Banking team builds tools that allow millions of small businesses around the globe to better manage their cash flow. The legacy financial system relies on long-standing and often-unfair conventions like outdated fees and onerous applications. We are building better business banking by seamlessly integrating payments and banking in one place, without the frustrations and hassles of incumbent banks.

Within Square Banking, the Cash Flow team is dedicated to helping our sellers understand and manage their business cash flow with products that include Checking, Savings, Instant Transfers, Square Debit Card and Bill Pay. With this suite of products, we ensure that our customers get access to the funds they need when they need them, and that they can always understand and control where their money is going. As a Data Analyst on the Banking Cash Flow team, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Design to gain deep insights into our customers, drive data-informed product and marketing decisions, and deliver a remarkable and cohesive cash flow home experience.

You will:

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and answer the most important questions where analytics will have a material impact

  • Be a strategic partner to influence product roadmap and guide Cash Flow teams to navigate through product opportunities

  • Develop a strong understanding of cash flow products, and use data analytics to solve practical problems such as defining feature success and optimizing funnels

  • Build visualizations that monitor the health and performance of our products, and proactively investigate and communicate key business drivers

  • Create resources to empower data access and self-service so your expertise can be leveraged where it is most impactful

  • Communicate analysis and decisions to high-level partners and executives in verbal, visual, and written media

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics

  • Expertise in product analytics, understanding and tracking user behaviors through analytical perspectives such as engagement, conversion, segmentation and funnel analysis

  • Proficiency in SQL, with experience exploring large and complex datasets

  • Experience with data visualization tools (we use Looker)

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Design, Engineering, etc.) to inform, influence, and execute product strategy and investment decisions

  • FinTech experience a plus
