What you’ll do
Our Information and Communication Technology Group (ICT) provides a wide range of ICT planning, implementation, operation and support services across the KiwiRail Group.
As a Senior Data Engineer, your role is pivotal in enabling the business to leverage data effectively. You’ll be responsible for ingesting raw data from diverse sources and transforming it into actionable information. This information plays a crucial role in shaping business strategy and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
Your primary responsibilities encompass both overseeing and actively implementing data engineering projects. This entails not only supervising the development, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, data warehouses, and other data infrastructure but also actively participating in their construction to ensure efficiency and reliability.
As a Senior Data Engineer in the team, you will champion and lead a culture that is customer centric and supports innovation and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate for this role should have a demonstrated and proven track record in implementing data warehouses, ETL solutions, and data models. Direct experience in building data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and/or Azure Synapse Analytics is essential.
Additionally, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Significant experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Senior BI Consultant, or Senior Data Warehouse Developer
- Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python, PySpark, and SQL
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to comprehend business challenges and interpret business analytics needs
