The Role

The Senior Data Engineer within our Technology Team is primarily responsible for serving as a technical lead for assigned data elements of Technology Change portfolio. This role undertakes the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of stable, secure, and scalable data solutions and pipelines in support of data and analytics projects, including integrating new sources of data into data warehouses, developing data models, building custom apps, and delivering automated process solutions.

This person will be a subject matter expert who will use their expertise and skill set to perform hands-on development as well as managing a team of developers, providing consulting services and specialist technical support on data management and database administration. Responsibilities will include:

•   Providing data architectural and design input to strategic direction for the development of data products
•   Making recommendations for the enhancement of the data architecture
•   Designing and enabling the delivery of modern, efficient, and robust data pipelines and data products
•   Analysis of the business data solution requirements, and writing detailed technical requirements

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with at least three days based in our Southampton office.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

•   Demonstrable experience of working as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, Automation Engineer, or Database Administrator
•   Technical skills in a range of data processing technologies
•   Familiarity with cloud database technologies

Experience of some or all of the following technologies:
•   Snowflake database.
•   dbt (Data Build Tool).
•   Python development.
•   Version control (git).
•   Integration and deployment pipelines (CI/CD, DataOps).
•   SQL Server, Oracle database.
•   SSIS, SSRS, Power BI.
•   Advanced SQL and modelling methodologies such as dimensional modelling.
