Job Description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals.

 

In the office for first 2 months (Raleigh RITSC South Bldg., 4110 Wake Forest Rd), then remote 3 days a week and 2 days in the office.

 

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide product support and maintenance for the data warehouse.
  • Participate in data warehouse design, construction, scripting, and stored procedure development.
  • Implement data strategy methods to optimize data management.
  • Create programs and systems documentation to support data warehouse operations.
  • Assist with metadata repository management.
  • Prepare and implement data verification and testing methods.
  • Develop index and view scripts to enhance data retrieval and analysis.
  • Work independently on all functional duties.
  • Contribute to high-visibility programs or mission-critical aspects of assigned projects.
  • Oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources or manage all staff assigned to specific projects.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience or a High School diploma and 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (No Sponsorship)
  • Must be able to obtain a Postal clearance.
  • Proficiency in using Ab Initio Graphical Development Environment (GDE) for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) coding.
  • Familiarity with Ab Initio Metadata Hub for tracking and documenting data lineage.
  • Proficiency in writing ANSI SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Teradata SQL extensions.
  • Experience using Teradata SQL Assistant (QueryMan) for EDS (Enterprise Data Warehouse) support.
  • Experience with Teradata utilities like BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, FastExport, and TPump for EDS support.
  • Proficiency in UNIX commands and concepts for navigating source code directories, finding error logs, performing impact analysis assessments, editing code, and versioning files.
  • Experience in Linux Shell scripting for reading and creating driver scripts.
  • Knowledge of cloud operations and governance in the Azure environment.
  • Experience in data engineering, platform engineering, data integration, data observability, and AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) in Azure/Databricks.
  • Able to perform all functional duties independently on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of a given program.
  • Able to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
  • Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel;
  • Extensive experience with data warehouse design, construction, and/or maintenance, to include design and implementation of data strategy methods, coding and documentation of scripts and stored procedures, and creation of index and view scripts.
  • Extensive experience with development of data warehouse program and system documentation;
  • Able to assist with metadata repository management.
  • Extensive experience preparing and implementing data verification and testing methods for data warehouses.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 – $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
